Plant Manager – Inert Gas Atomization (IGA) Metal Powder Plant

1. Position

Designation: Plant Manager

Department: Operations / Manufacturing

Location: IGA Metal Powder Manufacturing Plant

Reports to: Managing Director / CEO / Business Head

Direct Reports: Production, Maintenance, Quality, Stores/Logistics and other plant personnel

2. Purpose of the Position

To take complete responsibility for the safe, reliable and economical operation of the IGA metal-powder manufacturing plant and to establish stable, repeatable production of powders meeting customer specifications.

The Plant Manager will be responsible for converting the plant from the trial/commissioning stage into a stable commercial production operation, followed by continuous improvement in productivity, quality, yield and cost.

3. Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations - Production Planning, Production, Plant Stabilization & Process Improvement, Quality Control, Maintenance, Safety & Environmental Compliance, Inventory & Stores, Manpower & Training

4. Qualification

Preferred:

- B.E./B.Tech. in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Production, Electrical, Chemical or related engineering discipline.

6. Experience

Preferred: 8 to 10+ years of industrial experience, including significant experience in manufacturing/process plants.





Experience in one or more of the following is desirable:

- Metal melting
- Atomization
- Powder metallurgy
- Metal powders
- Foundry
- Special alloys
- Vacuum/controlled-atmosphere processing
- High-temperature process plants
- Production and maintenance management

Experience in setting up or stabilizing a recent plant will be a major advantage.

7. Essential Competencies

- Strong process understanding rather than purely administrative experience.
- Ability to interpret production and laboratory data.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capability.
- Strong safety orientation.
- Ability to lead operators, technicians and engineers.
- Cost-conscious decision making.
- Good documentation and reporting discipline.
- Ability to work under trial/commissioning conditions.
- Strong coordination with technical, commercial and procurement teams.
- Understanding of metallurgy and powder characteristics ( preferred )

8. Preferred Leadership Characteristics

The person should be a hands-on Plant Manager, capable of going to the shop floor, understanding the process, identifying abnormal conditions and taking timely decisions.

9. Salary : Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
