JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Cook – Factory Mess

Job Purpose:

To prepare hygienic, nutritious and positive-quality meals for factory employees/staff as per the approved menu, maintain cleanliness and discipline in the mess/kitchen, and ensure timely preparation and serving of food.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation & Cooking

o Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea/snacks as per the approved daily menu.

o Cook vegetarian and non-vegetarian food as required by the company.

o Maintain consistent taste, quality and portion size.

o Ensure meals are prepared and served on time according to factory/mess schedules.

2. Food Quality & Hygiene

o Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.

o Wash and properly clean vegetables, rice, pulses, meat and other ingredients before cooking.

o Ensure proper storage and handling of raw and cooked food.

o Prevent contamination, wastage and spoilage of food.

o Keep kitchen utensils, cooking equipment, counters and dining/mess areas clean.

3. Kitchen Inventory & Material Management

o Check daily availability of vegetables, groceries, spices, cooking oil, LPG/fuel and other kitchen requirements.

o Minimize unnecessary food and material wastage.

o Assist in maintaining basic stock records of kitchen materials.

4. Kitchen Safety

o Follow safe practices while handling LPG/gas, knives, hot oil,



electrical equipment and other kitchen appliances.

o Ensure gas cylinders, burners and electrical appliances are switched off after use.

o Immediately report any leakage, equipment malfunction or safety concern to Reporting head.

5. Cleaning & Closing Duties

o Clean cooking utensils and equipment after every meal.

o Ensure leftover food is handled and stored/disposed of safely as per company instructions.

o Clean the kitchen before closing the shift.

o Maintain overall hygiene of the factory mess.

6. Other Duties

o Support food arrangements during company meetings, employee events, puja, celebrations and special occasions when required.

o Perform other kitchen/mess-related duties assigned by Reporting Admin/HR or Management.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Experience:

2–5 years of experience as a Cook in a factory mess, hostel, hotel, canteen, restaurant, institutional kitchen or similar establishment preferred.

Candidates with experience cooking for 20-40+ people will be preferred.

Salary: 12000.00 monthly plus accommodation inside factory premises & Fooding
