The Role

We're looking for a Staff Engineer to help shape the technical foundation of Swish as we scale. You'll work on some of the company's most complex technical challenges, drive architectural decisions across multiple systems, and influence engineering standards across teams.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving large-scale problems, mentoring other engineers, and creating long-term technical leverage for the organization.

What You'll Work On

- Design and build highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant backend systems
- Drive architecture and technical direction across multiple products and services
- Lead cross-functional technical initiatives spanning multiple teams
- Improve platform scalability, performance, reliability, and developer productivity
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines
- Mentor senior engineers and help raise the technical bar across the organization
- Partner with Product, Operations,



and Leadership teams to align technical investments with business goals
- Identify and solve long-term technical challenges before they become bottlenecks

What We're Looking For

- 7-9 years of software engineering experience
- Strong expertise in Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or similar backend technologies
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, system design, scalability, and performance optimization
- Experience building and operating large-scale production systems
- Robust knowledge of databases, caching systems, messaging platforms, and cloud infrastructure
- Proven ability to influence technical decisions across teams
- Strong mentorship and collaboration skills
- Ability to balance short-term execution with long-term architectural thinking

Nice to Have

- Experience building consumer internet, e-commerce, marketplace, logistics, or food-tech products
- Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time systems
- Prior experience scaling engineering organizations through periods of rapid growth
