Senior Backend Software Engineer — Advertising Technology Platform

About the Role

n

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to join a global advertising technology organization responsible for building and operating high-scale advertising infrastructure.

n

The team develops and maintains a centralized advertising delivery platform supporting a broad portfolio of digital products and services. The platform enables advertising monetization across e-commerce, financial services, media, communications, and other digital experiences.

n

You will take ownership of major platform capabilities, working closely with product managers, engineering teams, operational teams, and other stakeholders to design, build, deploy, and continuously improve advertising technology products.

n

This is a hands-on engineering role with opportunities to influence technical architecture, system performance, reliability, and product development .

n

What You'll Do

n

Backend & Platform Engineering

n

n
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services supporting a large-scale advertising delivery platform.
n
- Build and enhance backend APIs, data-processing systems, and core advertising functionality.
n
- Lead the development of selected platform features while collaborating closely with other engineers.
n
- Take end-to-end ownership of assigned features, from technical design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
n
- Define technical requirements and architectural approaches for new capabilities.
n
- Design systems with consideration for overall platform architecture, scalability, response times, and interactions with existing functionality.
n

Reliability & Operations

n

n
- Maintain high availability and stability of production advertising systems.
n
- Implement appropriate monitoring, alerting, and operational safeguards for newly developed functionality.
n
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, implement corrective solutions,



and establish preventative measures.
n
- Analyze application and infrastructure logs within cloud environments.
n
- Contribute to improving operational efficiency through automation and software development.
n
- Support the maintenance, refactoring, and modernization of long-running and legacy systems.
n

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

n

n
- Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
n
- Communicate with teams outside of engineering to understand requirements and resolve issues.
n
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers.
n
- Explain technical designs, project progress, incidents, and root causes clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
n
- Break complex engineering initiatives into manageable tasks, prioritize work effectively, and consistently deliver against objectives.
n
- Proactively raise risks and uncertainties and collaborate with team members to resolve them.
n

Required Qualifications

n

n
- 5+ years of professional software development experience , preferably including experience developing advertising systems.
n
- Strong proficiency in Golang .
n
- Experience developing and performance-tuning large-scale web applications .
n
- Hands-on experience operating applications on at least one major public cloud platform:
n
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
n
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
n
- Microsoft Azure
n
- Strong knowledge of relational database systems such as:
n
- MySQL
n
- PostgreSQL
n
- Other comparable RDBMS technologies
n




- Professional/business-level English communication skills .
n

Preferred Experience

n

Experience in any of the following areas will be highly valued:

n

- Practical experience with Big Query, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, GKE , or other GCP technologies.
n
- Development experience with SSP or DSP platforms .
n
- Experience improving products based on customer or user feedback.
n
- Experience maintaining, refactoring, and modernizing mature production systems and legacy codebases.
n
- Experience using software engineering and automation to improve operational efficiency.
n
- Robust incident investigation and troubleshooting skills, including:
n
- Initial issue investigation
n
- Problem isolation
n
- Root-cause analysis
n
- Solution implementation
n
- Preventative measures
n
- Experience analyzing production logs using tools such as Cloud Logging or Cloud Watch .

- Ability to communicate complex technical specifications and system behavior to non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

- Strong task-management and prioritization skills, with the ability to break complex projects into achievable deliverables.
n
- A team-oriented engineering mindset, including proactively escalating risks and helping teammates resolve technical challenges.
