Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead delivery of complex cloud migration and implementation engagements. This role combines hands-on Agile/Scrum delivery leadership with technical understanding of cloud infrastructure, along with the client-facing engagement management skills to own scope, budget, timeline, and risk throughout the customer relationship. The role acts as the critical link between engineering teams, solution architects, and business stakeholders.
n
Key Job Responsibilities
n
● Managing complex cloud migration and implementation projects.
n
● Leveraging comprehensive knowledge of cloud services to be able to hold conversations with solution architects and own strategic planning.
n
● Bridging business requirements with technical solutions, facilitating engineering discussions and ensuring alignment with customer business outcomes.
n
● Liaising with solution architects to ensure distilling of customer needs into clear technical requirements and mapping them to business outcomes.
n
● Defining documentation standards.
n
Team Coordination
n
● Leading daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
n
● Coordinating cross-functional engineering teams to maintain sprint velocity and delivery cadence across concurrent migration workstreams.
n
Risk & Dependency Management
n
● Tracking project performance, managing resource allocation, and proactively mitigating risks related to microservices dependencies, system performance, and scope creep.
n
● Maintaining risk and dependency registers, escalating blockers, and driving mitigation plans to closure.
n
Communication
n
● Acting as the primary point of contact between engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating deeply technical updates into transparent business progress.
n
● Producing regular status reports, steering committee updates, and executive-level summaries of program health.
n
● Engaging directly and credibly with solution architects on migration design decisions, acting as a quality gate for migration design completeness.
n
Client & Engagement Management
n
● Owning the overall scope, budget, and timeline of the engagement, applying business and financial acumen to manage change requests and protect margin.
n
● Serving as a strategic partner to the client, building trust with executive and technical stakeholders and managing expectations throughout the engagement lifecycle.
n
● Identifying IT compliance, security, and risk management requirements early in the engagement and ensuring the delivery plan accounts for them.
n
● Applying agile/iterative delivery experience to keep engagements grounded in realistic, defensible plans.
n
Accountability & Delivery Follow-Through
n
● Proactively chasing task owners on outstanding action items, overdue tickets, and at-risk deliverables, escalating firmly and promptly when commitments slip.
n
● Owning a ticket system as the system of record for sprint and program work: creating and grooming well-formed tickets, keeping boards current, and using it to drive (not just report) delivery.
n
● Driving documentation quality and completeness on a wiki, holding engineering and architecture teams accountable for keeping runbooks, design docs, and decision records current.
n
Basic Qualifications
n
● Experience in cloud computing, with direct exposure to large-scale AWS migration or implementation environments.
n
● Experience in project management of technical programs, supporting Fortune 500 companies across multiple industries.
n
● 10+ years Project Management hands-on experience in managing and delivering enterprise-level IT projects, engaging directly with client executives and technical stakeholders.
n
● Demonstrated hands-on experience running Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives).
n
● Working technical fluency: able to converse knowledgeably about core AWS services (e.g. EC2, VPC, S3, IAM), with a general working understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts (e.g. Terraform, Cloud Formation). Deep hands-on IaC authoring is not required, but candidates who describe themselves as "not technical" will not be considered.
n
● Daily hands-on use of a ticket system for backlog, sprint, and dependency management, and of a wiki for documentation.
n
● Able to communicate effectively, in both technical and business settings, with internal teams and client stakeholders.
n
Preferred Qualifications
n
● AWS experience preferred, ideally including large-scale cloud migration or operations engagements.
n
● At least one active project management certification (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, Certified Scrum Master).
n
● General subject-matter overview of cloud infrastructure, enough to follow architecture and engineering conversations.
n
● Proven ability to establish technical credibility with engineering teams and senior technical decision-makers, including solution architects, at a peer level.
n
● Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g. security, privacy, data residency) in a client-delivery context.
n
● Proven track record of increasing project scope and complexity, with deep knowledge of Agile and Scaled program management best practices and how to pragmatically apply them across large, complex projects.
n
● A track record of holding distributed teams accountable to deadlines without needing constant management escalation.
