Description

We are seeking a qualified legal professional to join the legal team of a global engineering and professional services firm. This role will primarily support the review, negotiation, and management of construction industry contracts across Australia.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate sound independent judgment.

An understanding of construction law and commercial contracting within the Australian market is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

- Review a broad range of construction and consultancy contracts, subcontracts, and associated legal documents.

- Provide clear, concise advice on contractual risks and obligations, and engage with internal stakeholders to discuss and resolve issues.

- Lead and support contract negotiations with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, and external legal counsel.

- Stay informed of relevant legislative and regulatory developments affecting the construction and engineering sectors in Australia.

- Support the business in achieving commercially sound outcomes while managing legal risk.

Qualifications





- Qualified legal practitioner with 8-10 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal team.

- Demonstrated experience in construction law and commercial contracting, preferably within the infrastructure, engineering, or qualified services sectors.

- Strong negotiation skills and experience with complex commercial agreements.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

- Commercially minded, with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.

- Self-motivated and capable of working independently, while also contributing positively to a team environment
