Infection Control Nurse

Key Responsibilities
Implement and monitor hospital infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
Conduct regular surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
Monitor infection rates and prepare periodic infection control reports.
Conduct infection control rounds and compliance audits across clinical and support areas.
Monitor hand hygiene practices and promote compliance among healthcare workers.
Monitor appropriate use of PPE, biomedical waste management, sterilization, disinfection, and environmental hygiene.
Support surveillance and monitoring of antimicrobial-resistant organisms and infection trends.
Investigate suspected outbreaks and assist in implementing appropriate control measures.
Coordinate with nursing, microbiology, housekeeping, CSSD, pharmacy, and other departments on infection prevention activities.
Conduct infection control training and awareness programmes for staff.




Maintain infection control records, audit reports, surveillance data, and documentation.
Participate in Infection Control Committee meetings and assist with implementation of action plans.
Support compliance with hospital quality and accreditation standards, including NABH requirements.
Assist in reviewing and updating infection control policies, SOPs, and guidelines.
Report significant infection control issues to the appropriate authority and follow up on corrective actions.
Perform any other duties assigned by the management.

Qualifications
B.Sc. Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution.
Valid nursing registration.
Certification or additional qualification in Infection Control / Infection Prevention

Experience
Minimum 2–3 years of nursing experience.
Prior experience in infection control in a hospital setting will be preferred.
