Role & responsibilities
Dispensing medicines Dispense the correct medicines to patients according to prescriptions.
Prescription review Check prescriptions for correct dose, dosage form, interactions, allergies, and possible errors.
Patient counselling Explain how to take medicines, dosage, timing, precautions, side effects, and storage.
Drug procurement Help select and purchase medicines and medical supplies of appropriate quality.
Drug storage Maintain proper storage conditions, including temperature, light protection, and expiry-date monitoring.
Inventory management Maintain stock records and prevent shortages, overstocking, and wastage.
Participation in clinical rounds Work with doctors and other healthcare specialists to optimize drug therapy.
Medication safety – Help prevent medication errors, such as wrong drug, dose, route, or patient.
Maintaining records – Maintain records of prescriptions, controlled drugs, stock, dispensing, and drug-related incidents.
