Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Assistant Manager – Mechanical Engineering to lead and manage the mechanical engineering team. The role involves team building, technical coordination, engineering execution, process improvement, and ensuring timely delivery of engineering projects.
The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical engineering knowledge, leadership capabilities, and experience managing a team in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the mechanical engineering team.
- Build a robust, collaborative, and performance-driven team.
- Allocate tasks and monitor team productivity and performance.
- Identify training and development needs of team members.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability building within the team.
2. Mechanical Engineering & Design
- Oversee mechanical engineering and design activities.
- Review technical drawings, engineering calculations, and design documentation.
- Ensure engineering work meets quality, safety, and project requirements.
- Resolve technical issues and provide engineering guidance to the team.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement in design and engineering processes.
3. Project Coordination & Execution
- Plan and monitor engineering activities to meet project timelines.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality, SCM, and Project Management.
- Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
- Track project progress and address delays or technical challenges.
4. Process Improvement & Quality
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and productivity.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards and organizational processes.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for technical issues.
5. Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare regular updates on team performance and engineering progress.
- Coordinate with senior management on project requirements and challenges.
- Maintain proper engineering documentation and records.
- Contribute to departmental planning and operational improvements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience in team handling and people management.
- Strong mechanical design and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience in engineering project coordination and execution.
- Knowledge of CAD tools and engineering documentation.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
