About the Role

ATRI Solutions is looking for a Windows Kernel Driver Engineer to develop Everest's Windows kernel-mode component — a minifilter driver that intercepts file system I/O (IRPs) to enable transparent, seamless cloud tiering of surveillance video, functionally mirroring the Linux KMD.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design and implement a Windows minifilter driver using the Windows Driver Kit (WDK)
2. Handle and complete IRPs (IRP_MJ_READ, IRP_MJ_WRITE, IRP_MJ_CREATE, etc.), including the option to pend I/O and complete asynchronously after a cloud fetch
3. Write robust kernel-mode C/C++ respecting IRQL constraints, cancellation, and fast-mutex/spinlock synchronization
4. Debug driver issues using WinDbg, kernel dumps, and Driver Verifier
5. Manage filter altitude registration and interaction with other filters in the I/O stack
6. Ensure every code path that acquires a lock or resource releases it correctly, including newly-reachable paths introduced by feature changes
7. Support driver signing,



HLK/WHQL testing, and safe install/upgrade/uninstall lifecycle

Mandatory Skills

Must-Have

• Windows Driver Kit (WDK) minifilter driver development experience

• Strong understanding of IRP handling and completion routines (including pending/async completion)

• Proficient C/C++ kernel-mode programming

• Kernel debugging with WinDbg (dumps, breakpoints, !analyze)

• File system filter driver architecture, including altitude/registration concepts

• Kernel-mode synchronization primitives (spinlocks, fast mutexes) and IRQL-aware coding

• Familiarity with driver signing and HLK/WHQL testing/certification processes

Nice-to-Have Skills

Good-to-Have

• Comparative architecture knowledge of ProjFS/CFAPI (cloud-file-provider style approaches)

• Experience with Storport/miniport or other Windows driver classes

• WPP/ETW tracing experience for production diagnostics

• Prior work on hierarchical storage management (HSM) or backup-tiering drivers
