Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context:
Understanding the functions of various components of equipment operation, process and safety for the machine centers as described above.
Maintain the automation systems, including the network, PLC and Level 1 & 2 control systems in proper condition.
Coordinating the activities of members and supervisors in the area to ensure implementation of planned activities and reducing forced downtime of the machine centers.
Assessing health of the equipment, spares management, upgrading the preventive maintenance activities and schedules based on the feedback collected from earlier activities and breakdowns.
Getting involved in incidents of forced downtimes to provide quicker solutions and ensure follow up.
Getting involved in incidents of quality failures to provide quicker solutions and ensure follow up.
Analyzing the breakdowns with tools like why - why analysis, to arrive at corrective and preventive actions and one point lessons and ensure compliance to decided actions as per plan.
Decide on small modifications in the systems to improve the performance from operation, maintenance, energy or safety point of view, arrange for the requisite materials and implement them.
Plan major investments through the Capex route, raise CP, seek approval, finalize technical specifications, assist in commercial negotiations, arrange for the procurement of materials as required, implement the projects as per the technical and operational requirements and validate the projects against the original plan.
Get feedback from operators and maintenance team on unsafe conditions existing, investigate accidents,



near miss incidents and setting incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure adherence to the procedures as per ISO 9001 & 14001 and OHSAS 18001, analyse the status of operational controls and take corrective actions, if required.
Impart technical expertise to the front line supervisors to ensure breakdowns are attended properly and in time.
Fully support major projects in the zone to help in trouble free commissioning and operations.
Modify the logic for operations, if necessary, to improve operation and quality performances.

Acquiring knowledge on the operation and progressively achieve better reliability of all machine centers
Ensuring availability of spares for equipments at the same time maintaining the expenses within budget.
Upgrade equipments with proper planning and technical inputs to ensure improved performance and better reliability are achieved.
