How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

Technical Leadership:

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers, ensuring adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and architecture.
- Set and enforce coding standards, code review processes, and documentation practices.
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, productive applications and APIs.

Project Delivery:

- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring timelines, quality, and business requirements are met.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into actionable tasks.
- Manage task allocation, monitor progress, and remove blockers for the delivery teams.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

- Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends.
- Drive adoption of new tools and practices to improve team productivity and product quality.
- Promote a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the team.

Product Ownership & Backlog Management:

- Own and prioritize the product backlog for the GCC engineering arm, translating business/regulatory requirements into epics, features, and user stories
- Partner with business stakeholders, compliance, and enterprise architecture to define acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements
- Balance regulatory-driven mandates (compliance deadlines, audit requirements) against feature/tech-debt work and automation/modernization initiatives
- Maintain a clear, transparent roadmap and communicate trade-offs to senior stakeholders

Stakeholder Management & Governance:

- Act as primary technical liaison between the GCC engineering arm and onshore product/business/compliance stakeholders
- Represent the GCC arm in governance forums, steering committees, and architecture review boards
- Produce stakeholder-facing artifacts: roadmaps, RACI matrices, status reporting, one-pagers for leadership

People Management:

- Setappropriate contextwhen assigning work to ensure that individuals roles support the achievement of the business units priorities and CIBCs overall goals

- Works closely with internal clients to ensure systems and processes supporting applications are operating effectively and efficiently.

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field.

Must Have Skills:

- 10+ years of experience in technology roles spanning software engineering, product ownership, and delivery leadership.
- Deep hands-on experience with BPM/case management platforms such as Pega or Appian, including case design, integrations, data archival/purging, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI; exposure to Copilot Studio is an asset.
- Practical exposure to AI and automation tooling, including platform-native AI capabilities, Azure AI services, or AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and providing technical direction in distributed delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery, backlog management, and release governance.
- Experience working in regulated industries, preferably financial services, with exposure to compliance-driven delivery requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and executive presentation skills.
- Ability to balance strategic priorities, regulatory commitments, technical debt, and modernization objectives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
