Position: Safety Lead - Plant

Location: Silvassa

Role Purpose
To drive operational safety excellence at the plant by ensuring statutory compliance, effective implementation of safety management systems, risk mitigation, contractor safety management, and fostering a proactive safety culture. The role will partner with production, maintenance, projects, and contractors to achieve a Zero Harm workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Operations

- Implement and monitor the plant safety management system.
- Conduct routine shop-floor safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, SOPs, work permits, and company safety standards.
- Drive workplace risk reduction initiatives.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Management

- Conduct HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment), JSA (Job Safety Analysis), and risk assessments for plant operations.
- Ensure adequate control measures are implemented for identified risks.
- Review safety aspects for current equipment, processes, and projects.

Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, State Factory Rules, and other applicable EHS regulations.
- Maintain statutory records, permits, licenses, and safety documentation.
- Support regulatory inspections and audits.

Contractor Safety Management

- Conduct contractor safety induction and competency verification.
- Monitor contractor compliance during maintenance, shutdowns, and project activities.
- Ensure adherence to permit-to-work systems and critical safety requirements.

Incident Investigation

- Investigate accidents, incidents,



near misses, and unsafe occurrences.
- Perform root cause analysis and track closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Share lessons learned across departments.

Safety Training & Awareness

- Organize safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness sessions.
- Promote employee participation in safety initiatives.

Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety

- Coordinate emergency response drills and mock exercises.
- Ensure fire protection systems are maintained and inspected.
- Support emergency preparedness and crisis management activities.

Safety Audits & Reporting

- Conduct safety audits and compliance assessments.
- Monitor safety KPIs and submit periodic performance reports.
- Track closure of audit observations and action plans.

Safety Culture Development

- Drive Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) initiatives.
- Lead safety observations, safety walks, and engagement programs.
- Encourage reporting of near misses and unsafe conditions.

- LTIFR (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate)

- Permit-to-Work Compliance
- Safety Observation Closure Rate

- Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety
- NEBOSH IGC
- IOSH Managing Safely
- ISO 45001 Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor
- Fire & Safety Certifications
