- supervise day-to-day factory operations, ensure smooth and efficient production, maintain quality and safety standards, manage manpower, minimize wastage and downtime, and achieve production targets within the planned time and cost.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Management
- Plan and supervise daily production activities as per production schedules.
- Ensure production targets are achieved on time.
- Monitor machine utilization, production output, and downtime.
- Coordinate with the Production Manager for daily priorities and requirements.
- Identify bottlenecks and take corrective action.
2. Manpower Management
- Allocate workers to different machines/workstations according to workload and skill.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and performance.
- Train workers on production processes and protected working practices.
- Ensure adequate manpower is available for each shift.
- Handle routine worker-related issues and escalate serious matters to management.
3. Quality Control
- Ensure products are manufactured according to specified quality standards.
- Check critical production parameters and identify defects.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspection and corrective actions.
- Reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
4. Machine & Maintenance Coordination
- Ensure machines are operated correctly and safely.
- Monitor machine breakdowns and coordinate with the maintenance team.
- Report recurring machine problems to management.
- Ensure routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance activities are completed.
5. Material Management
- Ensure required raw materials and components are available for production.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Coordinate with stores for timely issue of materials.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials.
6. Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure workers follow all factory safety rules and PPE requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping and workplace discipline.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, and near-miss incidents immediately.
- Conduct regular checks of the production area.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily production records.
- Prepare shift-wise production and downtime reports.
- Record rejection, wastage, material consumption, and manpower deployment.
- Submit daily/weekly production reports to the Factory/Production Manager.
