Senior Engineer Maritime AI Platform(Ship Management)

About the Role

Synergy Marine Group is lookingfor a Senior Engineer to join the Maritime AI Platform Technology teamsupporting the design, enhancement, and rollout of the Maritime AI Platform acomprehensive digital platform for ship management operations covering the fulllifecycle of vessel technical, marine, crewing, procurement, and complianceactivities. The role is central to translating operational requirements fromTechnical Superintendents, Fleet Managers, Marine Superintendents, andshore/vessel teams into explicit, actionable specifications for the product and engineeringteams building the platform's modules.

About the Maritime AI Platform

The Maritime AI Platform isSynergy's ship management digital platform spanning modules including: PlannedMaintenance System (PMS), Survey Class Certification Monitoring , Purchase / Budget / Expense Management, Defect Inspection Management (PSC,SIRE/CDI, VIR, Internal Audits, TMSA), Crew Planning Rotation, IHM,LSA/FFA Compliance, Dry Docking Planning, Voyage Monitoring, Fuel/Lube OilAnalysis, CII/EEOI/FuelEU compliance, BWT/CWT Monitoring, and TechnicalForms/Reporting used across a large multi-vessel fleet by shore-based shipmanagement teams.

Key Responsibilities

Actas the primary liaison between ship management stakeholders (TechnicalSuperintendents, Fleet Managers, Marine Superintendents, Crew Coordinators,Purchase/QHSE teams) and the product and engineering teams building theMaritime AI Platform.

Gather,document, and validate business requirements across platform modules including PMS, survey/class certification, defect and inspection management(PSC/SIRE/CDI/VIR),



purchase and budget management, crew planning, IHM, andvoyage/compliance reporting.

Translateoperational and regulatory requirements into user stories, workflow logic,validation rules, and acceptance criteria for development sprints.

Defineand implement data validation and quality checks to improve accuracy and reducemanual effort across fleet operational data.

SupportUAT (User Acceptance Testing) cycles, coordinate issue triage, and clarifybusiness rules with engineering during defect resolution.

Analyzeoperational data (maintenance jobs, survey/certificate status, defects,purchase requisitions, crew contracts, voyage/compliance metrics) to identifyprocess gaps and propose workflow improvements.

Preparefunctional specification documents, process flow diagrams, and statusreports/dashboards for management on ongoing platform enhancements.

Mentorjunior analysts/associates and support smooth knowledge transfer and onboardingwithin the team.

Staycurrent with ship management operational practices and regulatory requirements(IMO, class society, flag state) and assess their impact on relevant platformmodules.

Required Qualifications Experience

Bachelor'sdegree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, orrelated discipline.





Minimum4 years of experience in ship management operations, maritime digitaltransformation, or business analysis roles within the shipping/maritimeindustry.

Workingknowledge of ship management functions planned maintenance, survey/classcertification, PSC/vetting inspections, procurement, crew management, and/orregulatory compliance.

Demonstratedexperience gathering and documenting business/functional requirements andwriting user stories/acceptance criteria for software development teams.

Strongdata analysis skills Advanced Excel required; working knowledge of Python,preferred.

Experiencewith data validation, exception handling, and reporting standardization acrossfleet-level systems.

Excellentstakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills ability towork with vessel crew, shore technical/marine teams, product managers, andengineers.

Priorsea-going or ship management background strongly preferred.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Exposureto multiple ship management functions (technical, marine, crewing, procurement)rather than a single specialization.

Experiencementoring or onboarding junior team members.
