Own the design, development, integration, validation, and industrialization of automotive Closure Systems covering Glass, Seals, and Mechanisms for 3W and 4W Commercial Mobility vehicles. Ensure achievement of functional performance, safety, durability, quality, cost, weight, manufacturability, serviceability, and regulatory compliance targets throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design Development
- Translate vehicle-level requirements into subsystem specifications, technical targets, and interface requirements for closure systems, glazing, sealing systems, and operating mechanisms.
Develop and engineer:
- Door Glass Systems
- Windshields
- Fixed Glass Assemblies
- Backlite Systems
- Weather Strips and Seals
- Run Channels and Glass Guides
- Window Regulators
- Hinges, Latches, Strikers and Locks
- Handles and Associated Operating Mechanisms
- Ensure subsystem designs meet performance, quality, safety, and cost objectives.
System Integration Vehicle Packaging
- Own system packaging and integration with:
- Body-in-White (BIW)
- Vehicle Architecture
- Interior Trims
- Electrical Systems
- Manufacturing Processes
- Service and Maintenance Requirements
- Ensure robust interface management across all vehicle systems.
Engineering Documentation Release
- Prepare and maintain:
- Engineering Specifications
- Design Calculations
- Technical Standards
- Drawings
- GDT Documentation
- Tolerance Stack-up Studies
- Interface Control Documents
- DFMEA
- DVPR
- Support engineering release activities and maintain design documentation throughout the development cycle.
Design Reviews Feasibility Assessments
- Review CAD models and supplier design submissions.
- Ensure design maturity, manufacturability, assembly feasibility, serviceability, and readiness for production release.
- Participate in design reviews and gate evaluations.
Performance Quality Assurance
- Define and achieve targets related to:
- Water and Dust Ingress Protection
- Static and Dynamic Sealing Performance
- Window Operating Effort
- Gap and Flush Requirements
- Glass Movement Characteristics
- Durability and Abuse Resistance
- NVH Performance
- Perceived Quality
- Ensure closure systems meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
Validation Problem Resolution
- Plan and support component, subsystem, and full vehicle validation activities.
- Analyze test failures and drive root-cause investigations.
- Implement permanent corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Support durability and field issue resolution.
Prototype Launch Support
- Support prototype builds, pilot production, and vehicle evaluation activities.
- Resolve technical issues through cross-functional reviews and structured engineering approaches.
- Ensure smooth transition from development to production.
Supplier Development Technical Coordination
- Lead supplier interactions covering:
- Design Reviews
- Concept Evaluation
- Tooling Development
- APQP Activities
- PPAP Deliverables
- Production Readiness Reviews
- Monitor supplier performance against quality, cost, delivery, and technical objectives.
Program Cost Management
- Track:

Educational Qualification
Essential
- B.E. / B.Tech in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Automobile Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Or a related Engineering discipline
Preferred
- Postgraduate qualification in Automotive, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related fields.
Experience
- 5 to 10 years of automotive product development experience.
- Hands-on ownership of Closure Systems and/or Glass, Seals Mechanism development.
- Experience in:
- Automotive OEMs
- Tier-1 Suppliers
- Engineering Services Organizations
- Exposure to vehicle development from concept through production is preferred.
- Experience with commercial vehicle, passenger vehicle, or mobility platforms will be an advantage.
