Role & responsibilities
Standardize local development environments for Java/Tomcat applications to simplify onboarding and accelerate development.
• Define and implement Git workflows, pull request processes, branching strategies, and code review best practices.
• Build and maintain dependency-mocking and service-virtualization solutions to reduce reliance on live databases and third-party services. • Drive adoption of automated testing practices, including unit, integration, API, and regression testing.
• Establish API contract standards using OpenAPI and related tools to enable independent frontend and backend development.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, build reliability, deployment automation, and developer feedback cycles.
• Create developer tooling, automation scripts, onboarding documentation, templates, and engineering runbooks.
• Identify productivity bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve engineering efficiency and code quality.

SKILLS REQUIRED
• 5-9 years of experience in Java application development, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Developer Experience (DevEx) roles.
• Strong experience with Java, Tomcat, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, Spring MVC, and/or Spring Boot.
• Good understanding of legacy Java monoliths and modernization practices.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Pull Requests, branching strategies, and code review workflows.
• Experience with test automation, integration testing, regression testing, and API testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of service virtualization and mocking tools such as WireMock, MockServer, TestContainers, or similar.
• Experience with API contracts, OpenAPI specifications, and RESTful service design.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases and dependency management.
