TGT Science Teacher – Job Description

Job Title: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Science

Role: Teach Science to students generally in Classes VI–X, according to the school curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons for students.
- Teach topics such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and general Science according to the prescribed syllabus.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, worksheets, activities, and assessments.
- Conduct practical/laboratory activities while following safety procedures.
- Assess students through tests, assignments, projects, practical work, and examinations.
- Maintain student attendance, academic records, and progress reports.
- Identify students who need additional support and provide remedial teaching.
- Encourage scientific thinking, problem-solving, curiosity, and experimentation.
- Maintain classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment.
- Communicate students' academic progress with parents and school management.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events,



examinations, workshops, and other assigned duties.
- Use digital tools, presentations, models, and other appropriate teaching methods.

Typical Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant Science subject/combination.
- B.Ed. or an equivalent teacher-training qualification, where required.
- Qualification in CTET/TET or the relevant recruitment examination, depending on the school/employer.
- Knowledge of the applicable school curriculum and teaching methodology.

Key Skills

- Solid knowledge of Science subjects.
- Good communication and classroom-management skills.
- Ability to explain scientific concepts clearly.
- Lesson planning and assessment skills.
- Basic computer/digital teaching skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and school staff.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
