We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and team-oriented educator to join our IB school as a Pre-Primary Teacher, Library & Makerspace Facilitator.

The successful candidate will work across three interconnected areas: early years education, library and information literacy, and makerspace learning. The role requires someone who can create engaging learning experiences for young children while fostering curiosity, creativity, independence, collaboration, and a love of learning.

The ideal candidate will understand the principles of IB education and inquiry-based learning and will be comfortable facilitating learning through play, exploration, stories, hands-on experiences, experimentation, and reflection.

Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Primary Teaching

- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for Pre-Primary students.
- Create a warm, safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Facilitate learning through play, inquiry, exploration, and hands-on experiences.
- Support children's social, emotional, language, physical, and cognitive development.
- Observe and document children's learning and use observations to inform planning.
- Develop learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Differentiate learning experiences to meet the needs and interests of individual learners.
- Encourage student agency, voice, choice, and independence.
- Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- Collaborate with the grade-level team and specialist teachers to create meaningful transdisciplinary learning experiences.

IB & Inquiry-Based Learning

- Plan learning experiences aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) philosophy and approaches to teaching and learning.
- Encourage students to ask questions, investigate, make connections, and construct meaning.
- Support the development of learner agency and the IB Learner Profile.
- Integrate opportunities for reflection, communication, collaboration, and action.
- Contribute to transdisciplinary learning and concept-driven inquiry.




- Use authentic experiences and real-world contexts to deepen student learning.

Library & Learning Resource Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain a welcoming, engaging library environment for young learners.
- Support students in developing a love of books, stories, reading, and information.
- Curate
- Conduct engaging read-alouds, storytelling sessions, book discussions, and library activities.
- Help students develop early information-literacy and research skills.
- Encourage students to select, explore, share, and care for books and learning resources.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify and provide resources that support units of inquiry.
- Organize and maintain the library collection and learning resources.

Makerspace Responsibilities

- Develop and facilitate an engaging Makerspace for Early Years and Primary students.
- Design hands-on experiences involving building, creating, designing, experimenting, tinkering, and problem-solving.
- Introduce age-appropriate STEM, design thinking, art, craft, construction, and technology experiences.
- Encourage students to explore materials, test ideas, make mistakes, redesign, and reflect.
- Connect Makerspace experiences to classroom inquiries and transdisciplinary themes.
- Manage Makerspace materials, equipment, inventory, and safety procedures.
- Create opportunities for students to demonstrate creativity, collaboration, agency, and innovation.
- Introduce children to age-appropriate tools and technologies in a safe and purposeful manner.

Collaboration

- Work closely with classroom teachers, PYP coordinators, specialist teachers, and school leadership.




- Collaborate on units of inquiry and identify opportunities to integrate library and Makerspace learning.
- Participate in planning meetings, professional development, school events, and community activities.
- Share ideas and resources with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative learning culture.
- Communicate effectively with parents and the wider school community.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Primary Education, Library Science, or a related field.
- Relevant teaching qualification/certification.
- Experience working with Early Years / Pre-Primary students.
- Experience in an IB World School, preferably within the PYP, is highly desirable.
- Experience with inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, or play-based learning.
- Experience managing or facilitating a library, makerspace, STEM lab, innovation space, or similar learning environment is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of child development and early years pedagogy.
