Lighthouse Communities Foundation is looking for a Student Relationship Officer who can build genuine relationships with young people and support them throughout their journey — from enrolment to skilling, placement, and beyond.

About the Role

As a Student Relationship Officer, you will be at the heart of the student experience at the Lighthouse Centre.

You'll work closely with students, trainers, placement teams, alumni, and the Centre Head to ensure that learners don't simply enrol in a program — they complete it, build the right skills, and move towards meaningful employment.

Your role will bring together:

What You Will Do

Turn Enrolment Into Outcomes

- Support smooth implementation of program activities at the centre.
- Work towards learner participation, completion, placement, and other program outcomes.
- Monitor the student journey and identify opportunities to improve engagement and outcomes.
- Coordinate with centre and program teams to address challenges that may affect student success.

Build Relationships That Matter

For many young people, having someone who knows them, listens to them, and follows up can make the difference between dropping out and completing a program.

You will:

- Build meaningful and trusting relationships with students.
- Understand their aspirations, challenges, and motivations.
- Encourage regular participation and commitment.
- Support students when they face personal, academic, or engagement-related challenges.
- Create a welcoming and supportive environment at the centre.

Develop Youth Leaders

Don't just build learners. Help build leaders.

- Identify potential student leaders within each batch.
- Encourage students to take ownership and responsibility.
- Support peer-to-peer engagement and community participation.
- Identify and nurture alumni volunteers who can help create awareness about Lighthouse programs.
- Encourage successful alumni to stay connected and contribute to the Lighthouse community.

Keep Track of the Learning Journey

- Monitor attendance and student participation.
- Track learner progress and identify students who may be falling behind.
- Understand learning challenges and coordinate appropriate follow-ups.




- Work closely with the skilling team to address learner concerns.
- Share relevant feedback to improve training delivery.
- Help ensure students complete their skilling journey with demonstrable learning outcomes.

Help Students Move Towards Employment

The classroom is not the finish line.

You will work closely with the placement team to ensure students are prepared for the world of work.

This includes:

- Ensuring students participate in placement-readiness activities.
- Supporting interview preparation and career-readiness initiatives.
- Tracking participation in scheduled interviews.
- Following up with students who miss interviews or placement activities.
- Encouraging students to actively pursue suitable employment opportunities.
- Supporting the team in improving placement outcomes.

Keep Students Engaged

One of the biggest challenges in youth skilling is not just enrolment — it's retention.

You'll help students stay connected by:

- Following up on attendance and participation.
- Understanding the reasons behind disengagement.
- Building individual relationships with learners.
- Identifying early warning signs of drop-out.
- Working with the team to create appropriate interventions.
- Motivating students to complete what they started.

Use Data to Understand Students

Good student engagement is supported by good data.

You will:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
- Update platforms such as Master Sheet and WeConnect.
- Track attendance, participation, progress, and outcomes.
- Identify trends and gaps in learner engagement.
- Use data to generate actionable insights.
- Share insights with the team to strengthen program delivery.

You don't need to be a data scientist.

But you should be comfortable asking:

“What is the data telling us about our students?”

Support Centre Operations

- Support the Centre Head with day-to-day centre activities.
- Coordinate with trainers, placement teams, and other centre staff.
- Support centre events and student engagement activities.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Take ownership of responsibilities and step in where support is needed.

Who Are We Looking For?

Education

- BBA / MBA / MSW or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.

Experience

- 3–4 years of experience, preferably in:
- Skilling
- Livelihoods
- Education
- Youth development
- Community programs
- Employability initiatives




- Social impact organisations

Experience working directly with young people from low-income or underserved communities will be an advantage.

Languages

Strong spoken and written communication skills in:

- Marathi
- Hindi
- English
