Position Overview A leadership role combining formulation expertise, production discipline and people ownership. The Ink Plant Manager will lead the complete ink manufacturing function under the Plant Head. The role owns day-to-day formulation control, batch production, quality consistency, production planning, manpower deployment, material efficiency, documentation, safety and continuous improvement. The position works closely with R&D;, Quality, Procurement, Stores, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Service teams to ensure dependable product performance and timely availability. 2 Core Accountabilities A. Ink formulation and technical ownership Own the execution and control of approved ink formulations across production batches. Guide chemists on raw material selection, weighing sequence, mixing, dispersion, filtration, shade or property adjustment and batch correction. Troubleshoot viscosity, density, shade, drying, adhesion, printability, stability and compatibility issues in coordination with Quality and R&D.; Lead laboratory-to-plant scale-up, trial batches, validation and controlled transfer of new or revised formulations. Maintain formulation confidentiality, version control and controlled access to technical recipes. B. Production and delivery Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans aligned with demand and dispatch priorities. Ensure on-time batch completion, correct line clearance and adherence to approved batch manufacturing records. Balance manpower, equipment and shift capacity to remove bottlenecks. Monitor batch cycle time, yield, rework, downtime and schedule adherence. Escalate risks early and drive recovery plans without compromising safety or quality. C. Quality and batch consistency Ensure in-process and finished-product checks are completed before batch release. Review deviations, non-conforming batches, rework and customer complaints; lead root-cause analysis and CAPA with Quality. Strengthen first-time-right manufacturing through standard parameters, checklists and process discipline. Ensure reference samples, retain samples and batch traceability are maintained as required. Team leadership and capability building Lead formulation chemists, production chemists, operators and helpers across shifts. Set clear daily responsibilities, shift handovers and output expectations. Coach chemists in formulation troubleshooting, documentation and decision-making. Build operator skill matrices, training plans, authorization levels and a reliable second line. Drive discipline, attendance, housekeeping, accountability and respectful workplace behaviour. E. Raw materials,



inventory and cost control Monitor raw material consumption against standards and investigate variance. Coordinate with Procurement and Stores for timely material availability, correct storage and stock rotation. Reduce waste, spillage, excess solvent usage, rework and obsolete inventory. Support alternate raw material trials and cost-reduction projects with R&D; and Quality while protecting product performance. Track manufacturing cost per kg and recommend practical productivity improvements. F. Safety, environment and statutory discipline Enforce safe handling, storage and transfer of solvents, pigments, resins, additives and finished inks. Ensure PPE compliance, ventilation, grounding and bonding, fire-safety readiness, spill control and chemical segregation. Maintain Safety Data Sheet availability and train employees on hazards and emergency response. Lead incident and near-miss reporting, investigation and closure of corrective actions. Ensure plant operations follow applicable internal, environmental, safety and statutory requirements. G. Systems and continuous improvement Create, review and enforce SOPs, work instructions, batch records, cleaning standards and change-control practices. Use daily operating reviews and visual controls to track plan versus actual, quality, downtime, wastage and safety. Drive 5S, Kaizen, root-cause analysis and process standardization. Partner with Maintenance to strengthen preventive maintenance, calibration and equipment reliability. Submit structured production and performance reports to the Plant Head. Stop or hold a process where there is a quality, safety or compliance risk. Recommend formulation correction, rework or rejection through the approved authorization process. Initiate root-cause analysis and CAPA for manufacturing deviations. EXPERIENCE Typically 8-15 years in inks, paints, coatings, pigments, resins, adhesives, solvents, specialty chemicals or a comparable batch-process industry, including meaningful team-leadership responsibility. PREFERRED EXPOSURE Ink formulation, batch manufacturing, scale-up, quality troubleshooting, solvent-based chemical handling, production planning and EHS systems. LEADERSHIP LEVEL Manager capable of independently running the ink function under the Plant Head and developing chemists and operators.
