Job Summary

Shri Sai Hospital is looking for an experienced and patient-focused Senior Optometrist to join our ophthalmology team. The candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive eye examinations, performing diagnostic tests, assisting ophthalmologists, and ensuring quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and visual acuity assessments.
- Perform refraction, subjective and objective assessments, and prescribe spectacles as per clinical requirements.
- Perform and assist with diagnostic tests including IOP, keratometry, tonometry, and other ophthalmic investigations.
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations and procedures.
- Conduct pre-operative and post-operative assessments as directed by the ophthalmologist.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Identify and appropriately refer patients with suspected ocular conditions to the ophthalmologist.
- Counsel patients regarding eye care, spectacle use, contact lenses, and follow-up requirements.
- Explain diagnostic procedures and provide appropriate patient guidance.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and cleanliness of optometry equipment.
- Coordinate with the ophthalmology, nursing, reception, and billing teams for smooth patient flow.
- Maintain departmental registers, reports, and required documentation.




- Follow hospital infection-control, patient-safety, and quality protocols.
- Support the department in maintaining high standards of patient experience and clinical services.

Requirements

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Optometry (B.Optom/M.Optom) from a recognized institution.
- 3–6 years of experience as an Optometrist, preferably in a hospital or established eye-care centre.
- Strong knowledge of refraction and ophthalmic diagnostic procedures.
- Good patient counselling and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with ophthalmologists and clinical staff.
- Positive computer and documentation skills.
- Professional, courteous, and patient-centric approach.

Preferred Candidate

- Female candidate preferred.
- Candidates with hospital-based ophthalmology experience will be preferred.
- Candidates who can independently manage routine optometry assessments and coordinate with ophthalmologists.

Salary

₹25,000 – ₹40,000 per month, depending on experience, qualification, and interview performance.
