Job Purpose
Responsible for managing strategic sourcing, supplier development, component development and commercial activities for automotive components and raw materials, with a focus on cost optimization, quality, delivery and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with business and production requirements.
- Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers for automotive components, raw materials and outsourced processes.
- Manage the complete supplier development and component development cycle from initial enquiry to production handover.
- Study drawings, specifications, technical requirements and customer requirements while evaluating potential suppliers.
- Obtain and analyze supplier quotations, costing sheets and commercial proposals.
- Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, tooling costs, development costs, lead times and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Finalize suppliers based on Quality, Cost, Delivery, Capacity and Technical Capability.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and key vendors.
- Coordinate with PPC, Purchase, Production, Quality, Engineering and other internal departments for sourcing and development activities.
- Coordinate with suppliers for new part development, sample submission, trials and process validation.
- Handle supplier PPAP activities,
ensuring all required documents and samples are submitted within defined timelines.
- Follow up with suppliers for PPAP approval and closure of pending observations.
- Ensure smooth handover of developed and approved parts from the development stage to PPC / regular production.
- Monitor supplier performance through Supplier Performance Rating (SPR) and identify suppliers requiring improvement.
- Prepare supplier improvement plans and coordinate corrective actions for quality, delivery and commercial issues.
- Ensure suppliers consistently meet defined quality, delivery and cost targets.
- Coordinate with suppliers for capacity planning and ensure adequate capacity for current and future requirements.
- Conduct supplier visits, development meetings and performance reviews as required.
- Participate in and coordinate customer audits, supplier audits and certification audits as required.
- Ensure supplier compliance with applicable quality systems, customer requirements and company procedures.
- Identify alternate and backup suppliers to reduce supply-chain risks and dependency on single sources.
- Support localization, alternate source development and supplier diversification initiatives.
- Analyze market trends, raw material prices and supplier capabilities to support sourcing decisions.
- Lead continuous cost-reduction initiatives through VA/VE, process improvement,
alternate sourcing and commercial negotiations.
- Track sourcing savings, cost reduction and supplier development targets against defined objectives.
- Resolve supplier-related issues in coordination with Quality, Purchase, Production and PPC teams.
- Monitor development timelines and ensure current components are delivered as per project schedules.
- Maintain proper documentation and MIS reports related to supplier development, sourcing, costing and performance.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding supplier status, development progress, cost savings, risks and improvement actions.

Candidate Profile
- Diploma / B.E. Mechanical with 8–10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience in automotive / auto-component manufacturing preferred.
- Candidates should have hands-on experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development and component development.
- Good understanding of supplier costing, commercial negotiation, PPAP and supplier performance management.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, follow-up and problem-solving skills.
Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹650,000.00 per year
