ABOUT THE ROLE
- This is a hands-on HR role in a bag manufacturing unit. The main job is to build a proper system for the factory workforce, keep enough trained workers on the floor every day, and reduce the number of workers who leave. Most of the workforce is blue-collar, so the role needs someone who can work on the floor, not only at a desk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Build the worker management system
- Set up simple systems for the factory workforce: worker records, attendance, wage inputs, leave and shift planning.
- Prepare a skill chart for every department — who can do which operation, and at what level.
- Maintain a worker master with joining date, department, skill, wage type and contact details.
- Create simple formats and registers that department heads can fill without difficulty.
2. Reduce attrition
- Track how many workers join and leave every month, department wise.
- Talk to workers who resign and find out the real reason for leaving.
- Work on the common reasons — wage delays, supervisor behaviour, working conditions, workload and lack of growth.
- Run simple retention steps: proper induction, regular worker interaction, attendance and long-service rewards, timely wage payment.
- Give the management a monthly attrition report with reasons and an action plan.
3. Keep production running with the right manpower
- Check daily attendance early in the morning and arrange replacements for absent workers.
- Move workers between departments when a line is short or an order is urgent.
- Keep a ready pipeline of candidates so a vacancy does not stay open for long.
- Inform the management immediately about any manpower shortage that can delay dispatch.
4. Hiring and joining
- Collect manpower requirements from department heads and hire accordingly.
- Source workers through local channels, references and contractors.
- Complete joining formalities — documents, photo, Aadhaar card, PAN card,
bank details and appointment letter.
- Explain wages, duty hours, leave rules and company rules clearly at the time of joining.
5. Attendance, leave and wage support
- Maintain daily attendance, overtime and leave records for all workers and staff.
- Give correct attendance and piece-rate data to Accounts on time for salary processing.
- Handle worker queries on wages, advance and deductions along with Accounts.6. Discipline and worker relations
- Ensure company rules are followed — duty timing, gate entry, safety, housekeeping and material handling.
- Handle late coming, absenteeism and misconduct through counselling and written warnings.
- Solve worker complaints and disputes quickly and fairly.
- Keep a written record of every issue and action taken.
7. Training and skill development
- Give proper induction to every new worker before they start on the machine.
- Arrange on-the-job training with department heads to improve quality and output.
- Build multi-skilled workers so that one absent worker does not stop a line.
- Maintain a simple training record for each worker.
8. Statutory compliance and worker benefits
- Ensure PF and ESIC registration of every eligible worker and staff member at the time of joining.
- Ensure monthly PF and ESIC contributions and returns are deposited and filed within the due dates, along with Accounts.
- Ensure Professional Tax (PT) is deducted from every eligible employee as per the Gujarat slab, and that the PT payment and return are filed on time with Accounts.
- Maintain UAN,
ESIC number and nomination records for all employees, and help workers with claims, withdrawals and ESIC card issues.
- Ensure wages are paid as per minimum wage rates, and that bonus and gratuity are calculated and released as per law.
- Maintain the statutory registers, licences and records required under the Factories Act, Payment of Wages Act and Contract Labour Act.
- Check contractor compliance — PF, ESIC and wage proof — before their bills are cleared. Keep records ready for inspections and audits, and handle routine matters with labour and statutory offices.
- Ensure a POSH policy and internal committee are in place and that safety and welfare rules are followed.
9. Build a better work culture
- Make sure every worker is treated with respect, and correct supervisor behaviour where it is a problem.
- Keep communication open — regular floor interaction, worker meetings and a simple grievance system.
- Recognise good work through attendance, quality and long-service rewards.
- Maintain valuable basic facilities — clean canteen, drinking water, washrooms, uniform and safety equipment.
- Celebrate festivals and small milestones to build belonging among workers.
- Take worker feedback regularly and close the points raised instead of leaving them open.
- Set the same rules for everyone, with no partiality between departments or workers.
10. Coordination and reporting
- Take a daily plant round and coordinate with all department heads.
- Give a daily attendance and manpower status to the Managing Director.
- Submit monthly reports on joining, leaving, attrition, discipline, training and statutory compliance.
- Support the management in policy implementation and performance reviews.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
