TGT Social Science Teacher – Job Description

Job Title: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Social Science

Role: Teach Social Science to students, generally in Classes VI–X, following the prescribed school curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver effective Social Science lessons.
- Teach subjects/topics including History, Geography, Civics/Political Science, Economics, and related social studies as prescribed by the curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, worksheets, assignments, projects, and learning activities.
- Explain historical events, geographical concepts, government systems, economic principles, and social issues in an age-appropriate manner.
- Encourage critical thinking, analytical skills, discussion, and awareness of society and current affairs.
- Conduct classroom activities, group discussions, debates, presentations, and project work.
- Prepare and conduct tests, quizzes, assignments, and examinations.
- Evaluate students' performance and maintain academic records.
- Provide remedial and additional support to students who need it.
- Maintain classroom discipline and create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor attendance and student progress.




- Communicate academic progress and concerns to parents/guardians.
- Participate in staff meetings, school functions, examinations, training programs, and other assigned duties.
- Use appropriate digital tools, maps, charts, presentations, and educational resources to improve learning.

Typical Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree with the required Social Science subject/subject combination.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teacher-training qualification, where required.
- CTET/TET qualification where applicable to the recruiting organization.
- Knowledge of the relevant school curriculum and teaching methodology.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per hour
