Job Summary:
Responsible for conducting internal audits of branches and operational units to evaluate compliance with company policies, procedures, financial controls, and regulatory requirements. The role involves identifying operational and financial irregularities, assessing internal controls, verifying transactions and records, and preparing detailed audit reports with appropriate recommendations and follow-up actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct periodic internal audits and branch inspections as per the approved audit plan.
- Verify cash, bank transactions, collections, deposits, ledgers, vouchers, and supporting documents.
- Check compliance with organizational policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and report cash shortages, financial irregularities, fraud risks, process violations, and control weaknesses.
- Verify customer transactions, loan files, collection records, repayment details, and related documentation.
- Conduct customer verification and field-level verification where required.
- Review NACH/EMI/EWI collections, digital payments, deposit slips, and reconciliation of collection amounts.
- Verify branch assets, petty cash, keys, registers, records, and other operational controls.
- Investigate discrepancies identified during audits and obtain clarifications and supporting evidence from responsible staff.
- Prepare audit observations, reports,
and management summaries highlighting major and critical findings.
- Discuss audit findings with branch management and communicate corrective actions.
- Follow up on previous audit observations and verify whether corrective measures have been implemented.
- Escalate reliable cases involving suspected fraud, cash leakage, misappropriation, or repeated violations to senior management.
- Maintain proper audit working papers, evidence, and documentation for future reference.
- Analyze recurring issues and recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with branch teams, management, credit, operations, and other departments during the audit process.
- Ensure audit activities are completed within the assigned timeline while maintaining professional independence and confidentiality.
