Job title : Draftsman - AutoCAD – Piping / Structural

Reporting to : Project Lead

Purpose

To prepare accurate and quality 2D and 3D engineering drawings using AutoCAD based on engineering inputs, project requirements, design standards and client specifications, supporting piping, structural, boiler and fabrication projects.

Tasks / Roles and Responsibilities

- Prepare and modify 2D engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare Piping GA, Isometric, Layout and Fabrication drawings based on engineering inputs.
- Prepare and update Structural GA, fabrication and detailing drawings.
- Develop basic 3D models and layouts as required for piping and structural projects.
- Read and understand P&IDs;, sketches, GA drawings, fabrication drawings and engineering markups.
- Incorporate design changes, redline markups and engineering comments into drawings.
- Check dimensions, elevations, material details, drawing references and revision information.
- Coordinate with engineers and senior designers for drawing requirements and corrections.
- Maintain proper drawing numbering, revisions and document control.
- Ensure drawings are completed accurately and within the project schedule.

Education:



B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma – Mechanical / Production / or relevant Engineering discipline.

Experience:

- 1–4 years of relevant experience in AutoCAD drafting/detailing.
- Experience in Piping, Boiler, Structural, Fabrication or EPC projects is preferred

Mandatory Skills:

- Good knowledge of AutoCAD 2D drafting and detailing.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD 3D / 3D modelling.
- Ability to read P&IDs;, GA drawings, piping layouts and fabrication drawings.
- Valuable understanding of piping, structural and fabrication drawing practices.
- Ability to follow engineering instructions, incorporate markups and maintain drawing revisions.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience in Piping / Boiler / Structural / Fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling and engineering drawing software.
- Basic knowledge of Navisworks or other 3D model review tools.
- Experience working with engineering and design teams.
- Good communication, coordination and willingness to learn.
