Position Summary:

We are seeking a strong, hands-on Sr. Data Engineer on our Marketer Customer Data Platform (mCDP) team. This role is for a doer-of-an-engineer who will be pivotal in enhancing the team's development capacity. The ideal candidate is an expert in CDP operations and development, particularly with mParticle, and possesses extensive experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. You will be responsible for building and maintaining rules, data plans, and to an extent, supporting infrastructure that power our real-time customer data initiatives. While this role may include mentoring or directly managing 1-2 other engineers, it is fundamentally a hands-on technical position.

Primary Responsibilities:

CDP Development & Integration Operations

- Own the design and implementation of new, scalable integration patterns for ingesting data into and disseminating data out of our mParticle CDP.
- Develop and manage real-time data streams, configure webhooks, and build custom connectors to ensure low-latency data flow between systems.
- Become the subject matter expert in building, validating, and deploying audience segments, user attributes, and custom rules within the CDP.
- Maintain the integrity of our CDP data by enforcing data plans,



troubleshooting data quality issues, and ensuring schema hygiene.

GCP Infrastructure & Pipeline Engineering

- Architect, build, and maintain robust batch and streaming data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging GCP-native infrastructure and services.
- Set up and manage the GCP infrastructure that supports our CDP ecosystem, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
- Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform) to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting to ensure the health and performance of data pipelines and CDP integrations.

Hands-On Delivery & Team Mentorship

- Act as a primary individual contributor, writing clean, efficient, and production-ready code & mParticle data plans to directly advance the team's roadmap.
- Lead by example in engineering best practices, participating in code & architecture reviews and promoting a high standard of quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a small number of junior team members, fostering their growth while remaining focused on hands-on delivery.




- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical challenges and production issues related to the CDP and its surrounding data infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:

- 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of hands-on development.
- Extensive, hands-on experience with a Customer Data Platform (CDP); deep expertise with mParticle is strongly preferred.
- Proven mastery of building and managing real-time data integrations, including setting up webhooks, managing event streams, and building complex audience segmentation rules.
- Deep expertise in the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem, including practical experience with BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Cloud Run/Functions.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and complex SQL for data manipulation and pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
- A "doer" mindset with a passion for solving complex problems and a willingness to contribute at all levels of the data stack.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with marketing technology solutions that integrate with a CDP (e.g., Braze, Google Ads, Meta, LiveRamp, others).
- Google Cloud Skilled Data Engineer or Cloud Architect certification.
- Experience in a role that involved mentoring or informally leading other engineers.
- Familiarity with customer identity resolution and data privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
