The Role

The role will research, analyse, design, develop and customise instructional materials for both e-learning (animated videos, guides and explainer videos) and instructor-led training, supporting Finance change programmes and BAU learning. It will adapt existing content and apply appropriate instructional strategies to deliver accessible, engaging learning experiences through blended and multi-channel approaches, including animated videos, guides and explainer videos helping colleagues build sustainable finance skills and capabilities.

The British Council is undergoing significant finance process changes and delivering a Finance Innovation Programme, with the role supporting these initiatives within the Shared Services Centre. The post-holder will work closely with Global Process Owners, Governance teams, Finance SMEs, Finance SBU leads, Project Managers, Trainers, Global L&D; and end users to develop high-quality, cost-effective training for a global audience with diverse learning needs.

Main responsibilities

Project Management

Works with Project Managers and SMEs to establish clear training needs and ensure animated videos, guides and explainer videos experiences are effectively planned and delivered on time against agreed success criteria. Develops new content within agreed timescales, manages piloting and revisions, keeps stakeholders updated on progress, obtains approvals and conducts post-release reviews.

Product Development & Service Delivery

Designs and develops effective e-learning (animated videos, guides and explainer videos) using instructional design principles, including storyboards, rapid prototypes and appropriate tools such as Captivate, Camtasia and Articulate.



Ensures content is accessible, user-friendly and aligned with learner needs, while maintaining online resources and supporting learners through remote or face-to-face training, guidance and ongoing queries.

Service Improvement, Risk & Compliance

Ensures learning content meets agreed objectives and establishes processes and support materials for consistent animated videos, guides and explainer videos development, incorporating relevant industry best practices. Ensures compliance with information security, ISO 27001, IGA and Freedom of Information requirements, manages access and account controls, provides security awareness, maintains appropriate records and ensures incidents are resolved within agreed SLAs.

Role specific skills

- Expert user of the following or similar tools in the production of learning materials: Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Articulate or Go Animate and a competent user of the AI tools.
- Competent user of MS office especially teams, PowerPoint & word
- Competent user of web-based training tools such as Vimeo, Webex and yammer or wiki forums
- Competent user and knowledge of Success Factor Learning Management Systems or similar LMS's
- Project Management

Role specific knowledge and experience

Minimum/essential





- Knowledge or experience of Articulate, Camtasia and Creative Cloud tools, audio recording software or similar.
- Overall experience of 7-8 years in finance/training including at least 4-5 years of experience in designing self-access learning materials for a range of technical or business process situations

Desirable

- Knowledge and experience of applications (e.g. SAP)
- Knowledge and experience of British Council operations (or working in similar sector)
- Knowledge of HTML5
- Experience of adapting learning interventions to different cultural environments

Language Requirements

- The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.

Education

- Postgraduate or MBA Finance (or soon to qualify with these or similar qualifications)

Skilled Qualification and Certification

- Instructional Design qualification/certification.
- Training qualification – TTT, CIPD / ISTD or equivalent training qualification
