Duties and Responsibilities:
Core Capability
· Planning and organizing work in clinical chemistry laboratories.
· Manage the Department of Clinical Biochemistry and, in conjunction with Medical/Senior Staff, ensure efficient functioning of the department, use of staff, and material resources.
· Overall responsibility for implementation and surveillance of the management system as Technical Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities as BiochemistDay-to-Day Responsibilities
· Develop new and existing tests, mostly automated and computer-assisted.
· Accountable for strategic planning, organizing, and delivery of Clinical Biochemistry services.
· Advise the hospital on service department and strategic planning issues.
· Provide support for laboratory staff providing emergency on-call service.
· Participate in certified programs and maintain up-to-date records.
· Liaise with all users of the Biochemistry service to develop strategies, policies, and procedures for an efficient, responsive, and cost-effective service.
· Provide skilled advice and guidance to all staff within the department.
· Ensure turnaround time (TAT) for biochemistry tests.
Customer Care
· Address complaints, requests, or suggestions from users of the service.
· Liaise with clinical and technical staff, providing expert clinical advisory services.
· Guide interpretation of results and selection of tests to aid diagnosis and treatment.
Supervision
· Lead implementation and maintenance of the quality management system.
· Ensure good staff morale and proper training.
Authorization of Reports
· Ensure timely provision of test results including uploading data to HMS and proper documentation.
· Verify and authorize test results; ensure reports are accurate and timely.
· Authorize and sign policy and procedure manuals.
Inventory Decisions
· Manage expenditure and procurement of capital and consumable equipment,
communicate with manufacturers and suppliers, prepare specifications and tenders.
· Maintain weekly stock of consumables relative to utilization.
· Regularly review quality of the Biochemistry service and introduce improvements.
· Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of all records in accordance with ISO15189:2012.
Education and Training
· Train staff within the Clinical Biochemistry Department.
· Perform complex analyses on specimens of body fluids and tissues.
· Investigate abnormal biochemical conditions.
· Assist medical staff in researching disease causes and exploring methods of treatment.
Additional Responsibilities – Quality Lab
· Monitor and ensure adherence to TAT (Turnaround Time) for all tests.
· Participate in internal QC (Quality Control), EQAS (External Quality Assurance), and proficiency testing programs.
· Identify non-conforming work, implement corrective and preventive actions.
· Maintain laboratory safety protocols, infection control, and staff compliance.
· Conduct regular audits and review lab performance metrics to improve efficiency and quality.
· Ensure compliance with NABH/ISO standards and hospital policies.
· Support documentation and preparation for accreditation and quality inspections.
· Provide guidance to staff on quality procedures, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
· Quality Assurance / TQM: Ensure quality of services to nationally accepted standards, participate in internal, national, and international quality assessment schemes (including accreditation programs), implement and maintain Health and Safety Policies, ensure a safe laboratory environment, and participate in clinical audits relevant to Clinical Biochemistry.
Education - Postgraduate degree in Biochemistry / Clinical Biochemistry
Note: Hospital experience is mandatory.

Pay: ₹22,000.00 - ₹32,000.00 per month
