Kefilo is building a premium NutritionTech and preventive wellness company focused on personalized nutrition, functional food, Nutrition Intelligence and technology-enabled food innovation.

We are building proprietary systems around nutrition intelligence, personalized wellness, food technology, intelligent manufacturing and data-driven personalization. As we expand our R&D; activities, we are looking for a Senior Patent Attorney to build and lead our intellectual property strategy.

Senior Patent Attorney – Intellectual Property & R&D;

Type: Equity-Based Founding Position
Work Mode: Part-Time / Remote
Engagement: Strategic + hands-on
Compensation: Equity-based; no fixed salary at the current stage

Role Objective

Build Kefilo's intellectual property strategy from the ground up and identify, evaluate, document, protect and commercialize innovations emerging from our NutritionTech, food science, technology and R&D; activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Patent Strategy & Portfolio
Develop Kefilo's long-term patent strategy covering Nutrition Intelligence, food technology, personalized nutrition, intelligent manufacturing, formulations, processes, systems and technology.

- Patent Identification & Drafting
Work closely with the R&D; and product teams to identify patentable inventions, conduct invention assessments and develop solid patent specifications and claims.

- Prior-Art & Patentability Research
Conduct prior-art searches, patent landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate assessments and competitive IP research before major R&D; investments.

- NutritionTech & FoodTech IP
Identify protectable innovations in functional nutrition, food formulations, manufacturing processes, personalization systems, nutrition algorithms and technology-enabled food systems.

- IP Documentation
Create an internal invention-disclosure and IP documentation system so that every significant innovation generated by Kefilo's team is properly recorded and evaluated.

- Patent Filing & Prosecution
Lead or coordinate patent filing, examination responses, amendments,



hearings and prosecution activities in India and, where appropriate, international jurisdictions.

- IP Portfolio Management
Build and maintain a structured portfolio of patents, provisional applications, trademarks, designs, trade secrets and other relevant intellectual property.

- R&D; Collaboration
Work directly with food scientists, nutritionists, data scientists, product developers and technology teams to convert technical innovations into protectable IP.

- Competitive Intelligence
Monitor competitor patents, publications and emerging technologies to identify opportunities, risks and potential IP conflicts.

- IP Commercialization
Help Kefilo evaluate how patents and other IP can create licensing, partnerships, technology-transfer and strategic business opportunities.

Ideal Candidate

- Senior patent attorney / patent agent / IP professional with strong patent experience.

- Strong experience in patent drafting, prosecution and IP strategy.

- Relevant technical understanding of food technology, biotechnology, nutrition, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, data science or related fields.

- Experience working with startups, R&D; organizations or technology-driven companies is preferred.

- Strong understanding of patentability, prior art, inventive step, claims and freedom-to-operate.

- Ability to understand complex technical concepts and convert them into commercially meaningful IP.

- Strong written and analytical skills.

- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to work closely with a founding team.

- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the complete IP function.

For work before the Indian Patent Office, registration as a patent agent is particularly relevant: Indian law requires registration to practice as a patent agent,



and Section 127 provides registered patent agents the right to practice before the Controller and perform prescribed functions. 

Preferred Experience

5+ years of relevant patent/IP experience, with preference for candidates who have handled:

- Patent drafting and prosecution

- FoodTech / NutritionTech / Biotech / Life Sciences IP

- Technology and process patents

- Patent landscape studies

- Freedom-to-operate analysis

- Startup IP strategy

- International patent filing

- IP portfolio development

Equity-Based Structure

This is an equity-based founding position designed for a senior professional who wants to participate in building Kefilo's long-term intellectual property value.

There is no fixed salary at the current stage. Equity will be discussed based on experience, expected contribution, time commitment, ownership and long-term involvement.

The role is intended for someone who wants to contribute strategically rather than function only as an external legal consultant.
