ROLE PURPOSE

Own day-to-day procurement of flat and structural steel — source from primary mills, secondary rollers, dealers and stockists at the best landed cost, negotiate rate and credit terms, track market movement, and ensure timely delivery with complete quality and statutory documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Sourcing & vendors: Develop and evaluate mills, dealers, stockists and importers; maintain vendor master with rate history, lead time and credit terms; keep at least two qualified alternate sources per key grade and section.

▪ Negotiation: Float enquiries, compare quotes on a landed-cost basis, and negotiate price, quantity tolerance, rolling margin, delivery schedule, freight responsibility and payment terms.

▪ Order management: Convert indents into purchase orders with correct specification, HSN, GST rate and delivery terms (EXW / FOR); follow up on mill rolling programmes, loading and dispatch; handle amendments and short supplies.

▪ Market intelligence: Track HR / CR coil, plate and structural price movement, mill list prices and discount schemes, scrap and billet trends and import parity; recommend buy, hold or defer to management.

▪ Quality & compliance: Verify mill test certificates against heat numbers and mechanical properties; check dimensional tolerance, coating mass and permissible weight variation; pursue short-weight and off-grade claims to settlement.

▪ Logistics & inward: Negotiate inward freight, coordinate loading and transit, reconcile weighbridge against invoice and theoretical weight, and ensure prompt GRN and material identification at the warehouse.

▪ Inventory & costing: Set reorder and safety-stock levels with sales and warehouse teams; prepare landed-cost workings covering GST, freight, handling and interest on credit period.

▪ Accounts & MIS:



Verify supplier invoices against PO and GRN, reconcile vendor ledgers with accounts, and maintain purchase registers and monthly procurement MIS in the company’s ERP / Sheets / AppSheet systems.

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE EXPECTED

Flat: HR / CR coils and sheets, HRPO, MS and chequered plates, GP / GC, GI coils, PPGI, slit coils. | Structural: angles, channels (ISMC), beams (ISMB / ISWB), joists, flats, rounds, billets, TMT, ERW / SHS / RHS sections.

Standards: IS 2062 (E250 A / BR / B0, E350), IS 513, IS 277, IS 1079, IS 1786. Familiarity with theoretical vs actual weight, rolling margin and section weight per metre is essential.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

▪ 3–6 years of hands-on steel purchase experience in trading, distribution, fabrication or manufacturing, with a demonstrated negotiation record with mills, dealers and transporters.

▪ Strong MS Excel / Google Sheets — comparative statements, landed-cost models, lookups and pivot tables; working knowledge of GST, HSN classification and e-way bill rules.

▪ Graduate in any discipline (B.Tech – Mechanical / Metallurgy or MBA in Supply Chain preferred); fluent in English and Hindi; willing to travel to mills, stockyards and warehouses.

▪ Preferred: existing mill and stockist relationships in Delhi NCR, Gujarat and Mumbai; exposure to imported steel, LCs and port-based procurement; ERP experience (SAP, Tally Prime, Zoho or similar).

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
