About the Role

We are looking for an experienced VMC Operator with strong hands-on experience in operating and setting up CNC Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) for precision component manufacturing.

The candidate will be responsible for machine setup, job loading, tool setting, work and tool offsets, monitoring machining operations, basic dimensional inspection, and maintaining production and quality standards.

The ideal candidate should have good knowledge of VMC operations, cutting tools, tool/work offsets, engineering drawing interpretation, machining processes, and basic GD&T;.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate CNC Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) for manufacturing precision components as per production requirements.
- Perform job setup according to engineering drawings, tool lists, setup sheets, and machining instructions.
- Load and unload components, fixtures, and cutting tools safely and correctly.
- Set work offsets, tool offsets, tool lengths, and machining parameters as required.
- Carry out basic machining operations such as milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, slotting, pocketing, and facing as per job requirements.
- Select and use appropriate cutting tools, inserts, holders, and fixtures based on the machining requirement.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining instructions.




- Monitor machining operations and identify machine abnormalities, tool wear, vibration, dimensional variation, and other machining issues.
- Make minor tool-offset and work-offset adjustments whenever required to maintain dimensional accuracy.
- Perform basic dimensional inspection of machined components using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other appropriate measuring instruments.
- Ensure machined components meet specified dimensions, tolerances, and quality requirements.
- Maintain proper identification and traceability of components throughout the production process.
- Follow the assigned production schedule and achieve required production targets.
- Coordinate with the Production and Quality teams regarding machining, dimensional, and quality-related issues.
- Report machine problems, tool-related issues, and quality deviations to the concerned supervisor.
- Maintain machine cleanliness, workplace housekeeping, and proper handling of tools and components.
- Follow all prescribed safety, quality, production, and operational procedures.

Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in CNC VMC machine operation.
- Good knowledge of VMC machining processes and precision component manufacturing.




- Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, tool selection, and tool life.
- Practical experience in setting work offsets and tool offsets.
- Ability to make minor offset corrections during machining.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining symbols.
- Basic understanding of GD&T;.
- Ability to use basic precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
- Knowledge of common VMC operations including milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, pocketing, slotting, and facing.
- Ability to identify basic machine abnormalities, tool wear, vibration, and quality issues.
- Good understanding of shop-floor safety and quality procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a production-oriented manufacturing environment.

Qualification
- ITI in Machinist / Tool & Die Maker / Turner or equivalent technical trade.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with a relevant technical qualification and strong hands-on VMC experience will be preferred.

Experience
- 5–6 years of relevant hands-on experience in CNC VMC operation and machining.
- Experience in precision engineering, aerospace, defence, automotive, or CNC manufacturing industries will be preferred.
- Experience working with tight-tolerance precision components will be an added advantage.
