About the Role:
This is not just an anchoring position. We are looking for someone who can take complete ownership of a video story, from identifying and researching the topic to writing the script and presenting it confidently on camera. The person will create short-form news videos, explainers and long-form video stories covering startups, technology, business, funding, policy and the broader Indian economy.
Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct independent research using credible and primary sources.
- Verify facts, numbers, claims and supporting information before publication.
- Develop strong story angles, hooks and narrative structures.
- Write engaging scripts for short-form videos, including Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn videos.
- Create scripts for long-form explainers, interviews and editorial video formats.
- Present stories naturally and confidently in front of the camera.
- Participate in studio, office and on-location shoots when required.
- Work closely with video editors, designers and the editorial team to produce the final video.
- Adapt stories and scripts for different platforms and audience formats.
- Track breaking news and respond quickly without compromising editorial accuracy.
- Maintain Indian Startup News’ editorial standards, tone and credibility.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree or professional background in journalism, mass communication, media or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in journalism, digital media, video reporting or news presenting.
- Prior experience appearing on camera is essential.
- A portfolio containing on-camera videos, reports, explainers or similar work.
- Strong research, fact-checking and scriptwriting abilities.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- The ability to explain complex business and technology stories in simple, engaging language.
- A clear, confident and conversational on-camera presence.
- Strong news judgment and an understanding of digital content formats.
- Familiarity with India’s startup and business ecosystem is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of video production, framing, audio and teleprompter-based delivery would be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and operate in a fast-moving newsroom.
What Success in This Role Looks Like
- Turning complex developments into explicit, compelling video stories.
- Producing well-researched scripts with strong hooks and accurate information.
- Developing a recognisable and credible on-camera presence for Indian Startup News.
- Responding quickly to important stories while maintaining high editorial standards.
- Creating video formats that audiences want to watch, understand and share.
