We are looking for a Project Engineer who can operate at the intersection of business, processes, and technology and help turn business requirements into practical, scalable digital solutions.

About the Role

As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, product owners, designers, and engineering teams to understand business objectives, analyze existing processes, define requirements, and translate them into technical solutions.

This is a hybrid business + process + technology role.

You will not be expected to be a pure software developer. Instead, you should be comfortable understanding how systems work, asking the right technical questions, working with APIs and integrations, analyzing data, understanding eCommerce platforms, and collaborating with developers to ensure that the right solution is delivered.

You will play an important role throughout the project lifecycle—from discovery and requirements through solution design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Business & Requirements Analysis

Understand business objectives, customer journeys, operational challenges, and system requirements.

Work with stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document functional and non-functional requirements.

Convert business requirements into clear user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.

Identify gaps, dependencies, assumptions, and potential risks early in the project.

Challenge requirements constructively and identify opportunities to simplify or improve business processes.

Process Analysis & Optimization

Analyze existing business and operational processes and identify inefficiencies.

Create process flows, workflows, system flows, and functional diagrams.

Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and digital transformation.

Understand how business processes translate into system functionality.

Evaluate the impact of proposed technology changes across users, processes, data, and integrations.

Technical Analysis

Work closely with developers and architects to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Develop a good understanding of web applications, eCommerce platforms, APIs, databases, integrations, and cloud environments.

Analyze API documentation and understand request/response structures, authentication, data mapping, and integration flows.

Understand data models,



product/catalog structures, customer/order data, and system-to-system data flows.

Participate in technical discussions and help identify practical implementation approaches.

Review technical designs and provide business/process context to engineering teams.

Identify technical dependencies and communicate their business impact to stakeholders.

Digital Commerce

Develop a strong understanding of eCommerce concepts such as:

Product catalogs and variants

Pricing and promotions

Customer accounts

B2B workflows

Cart and checkout

Payments

Order management

Inventory

Shipping

Search and merchandising

Content management

Customer journeys

Work with platforms such as Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, or similar commerce platforms.

Understand how third-party systems integrate with commerce platforms.

Data & Integration

Analyze business and technical data to identify issues, patterns, and opportunities.

Work with SQL or similar tools to investigate data and validate business scenarios.

Support data migration and transformation activities.

Define data mappings between systems.

Analyze integration failures and work with engineering teams to identify root causes.

Support API and integration testing.

Testing & Delivery

Create test scenarios and acceptance criteria based on business requirements.

Support QA teams during functional and integration testing.

Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Analyze defects, determine business impact, and help prioritize fixes.

Validate that delivered solutions meet the original business requirements.

Support deployment, release validation, and post-production analysis.

Project Collaboration

Work closely with Project Managers, Product Owners, Developers, QA Engineers, Designers, and client stakeholders.

Participate in sprint planning, refinement, demos, retrospectives, and project discussions.

Track requirements, dependencies, risks, issues, and decisions.

Communicate complex technical concepts in a way that business stakeholders can understand.

Communicate business requirements clearly enough for technical teams to implement.

Maintain accurate project and technical documentation.

Required Skills

Good understanding of web technologies and software application architecture.

Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and system integrations.

Basic-to-intermediate SQL and data analysis skills.

Understanding of databases and data structures.

Ability to create process flows, system flows, use cases, and functional specifications.

Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Strong communication and documentation skills.

Ability to work effectively with both business and technical teams.

Valuable to Have

Experience with Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, WooCommerce, or other eCommerce platforms.

Experience with B2B eCommerce.

Experience working with APIs and third-party integrations.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.

Knowledge of Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, or similar technologies.

Experience with Postman or similar API testing tools.

Experience with SQL databases.

Understanding of headless commerce and composable commerce architectures.

Experience with data migration and system integrations.

Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or similar project collaboration tools.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a related field.

Typically 2–5 years of experience in Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, Software Engineering, eCommerce implementation, Technical Consulting, or a similar role.

Candidates with strong technical fundamentals and an interest in business/process analysis are encouraged to apply.
