Location: Electronic City, Bangalore

Reporting to: Dean of Academics

Work Mode: On-Site

About Scaler School Of Technology School of Technology (SST) is a 4-year, full-time residential undergraduate program in Computer Science & AI. With a sub-4% acceptance rate, SST is building India’s Ivy League for tech - where elite engineering meets real-world outcomes, mentorship, and hands-on experience.

In just its second year, over 21,000+ students applied for only a few hundred seats, with many leaving offers from NITs and BITS to join SST. The campus today is home to a handpicked cohort of students who are not only academically outstanding but also driven to build startups, publish research, and compete in global contests. The environment is intentionally designed to mirror the world’s best technical universities - selective intake, high-caliber peer group, and access to industry leaders.

About The Role We are looking for a Visiting Faculty / Part-Time Instructor to deliver the System Programming and Performance Engineering [HFT] course to a high-performing cohort of undergraduate students. The role is suited for engineers with strong hands-on expertise in C/C++, Linux, operating systems, networking, concurrency, and performance optimization.

The instructor should be able to explain complex systems concepts clearly while connecting theory to practical implementation, debugging, profiling, and real-world performance-critical systems.

What You Will Do / Responsibilities

- Teaching & Delivery
- Deliver engaging and technically rigorous instructor-led sessions.
- Teach systems concepts through a combination of theory, mathematical/technical intuition, live coding, debugging, and practical examples.
- Guide students through labs, assignments, projects, and systems programming challenges.
- Demonstrate how software interacts with the OS, CPU, memory, and networking stack.
- Use real-world examples from HFT, low-latency infrastructure, and performance-critical systems where relevant.
- Topics Covered

The course covers systems programming,

operating systems, networking, memory management, concurrency, CPU architecture, and performance engineering. Students will work with concepts such as C/C++, Linux systems, TCP/UDP and custom protocols, I/O models, shared and memory-mapped memory, CPU caching, NUMA, thread pinning, CPU isolation, kernel bypass, and low-latency systems. The course also includes hands-on work involving debugging, profiling, benchmarking, optimization, and systems-oriented projects.
- Student Engagement & Mentorship
- Help students develop strong systems fundamentals and practical problem-solving skills.
- Guide students through assignments, labs, projects, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Address technical queries and facilitate deeper systems discussions.
- Mentor students on performance measurement, debugging, and engineering best practices.
- Help students connect classroom concepts to real-world systems and HFT applications.
- Course Delivery Excellence
- Follow the existing curriculum, academic standards, and evaluation framework.
- Work with the academic team to ensure smooth course delivery.
- Provide feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments.
- Bring relevant industry practices, engineering examples, and current developments into the classroom.

Required Qualifications

- Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Strong industry, research, or open-source experience in systems is highly valued.

- Experience
- 2–8+ years of relevant experience in systems programming, backend infrastructure, networking, distributed systems, HFT, or performance engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with C/C++ and Linux.
- Experience with multithreading, concurrency, networking, memory management, and performance optimization.
- Experience in HFT, fintech, low-latency systems, or high-performance computing is strongly preferred.
- Prior teaching, mentoring, or technical training experience is a plus.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of C/C++, Linux, operating systems,

networking, concurrency, and computer architecture.
- Good understanding of CPU caches, memory hierarchy, NUMA, and hardware-aware programming.
- Familiarity with performance profiling and debugging tools such as gdb, perf, strace, tcpdump, or Wireshark.
- Understanding of low-latency systems and performance optimization techniques.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly through whiteboarding, coding, and practical demonstrations.
- Robust communication and classroom engagement skills.

Application Process

- Shortlisted candidates will undergo:
- Technical / Knowledge Round – Assessment of systems programming, C/C++, OS, networking, concurrency, and performance engineering fundamentals.
- Teaching Round – Demo session to assess conceptual clarity, teaching ability, classroom engagement, and technical depth.
- Fitment Round – Alignment with SST’s academic expectations and teaching environment.

Why Scaler
