As we continue to expand our supplier network and manufacturing capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to strengthen our Supplier Quality Assurance team.

About the Role The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that components manufactured by external suppliers meet customer requirements, engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and delivery expectations.

The role will involve supplier qualification, process audits, new product development, inspection, PPAP/FAI, supplier corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and continuous supplier improvement.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in casting, forging and/or machining, along with valuable knowledge of inspection methods, engineering drawings, GD&T;, quality tools, and supplier quality processes.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management

Manage quality activities for suppliers manufacturing castings, forgings, and machined components.

Support supplier evaluation, qualification, and onboarding.

Conduct supplier process and quality audits.

Monitor supplier quality performance and identify areas for improvement.

Maintain supplier quality records, audit reports, NCRs, and corrective-action reports.

Work closely with suppliers to prevent recurring quality issues.

Casting & Forging Quality

Inspect and evaluate casting and forging components based on drawings and specifications.

Identify common casting defects such as:

Porosity

Shrinkage

Cracks

Inclusions

Cold shut

Misrun

Identify forging defects such as:

Cracks

Laps

Underfill

Dimensional variation

Grain-flow-related defects

Review material, heat-treatment,



metallurgical, and NDT requirements.

Machining Quality

Monitor quality of CNC-machined components including turning, milling, drilling, boring, grinding, and other machining processes.

Review dimensional inspection reports and CMM reports.

Verify critical dimensions, tolerances, GD&T;, and surface-finish requirements.

Ensure supplier inspection methods are suitable for critical characteristics.

Drawing & Inspection

Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.;

Verify component dimensions using appropriate measuring instruments.

Review inspection reports and supplier quality documents.

Check measurement results against drawing specifications and customer requirements.

Coordinate with suppliers for dimensional and functional inspections.

NPI / PPAP / FAI

Support new product development and supplier development activities.

Review supplier APQP, PPAP, and FAI documentation.

Review:

Control Plan

MSA

SPC

Capability Studies

Inspection Reports

Material Certificates

NDT Reports

Ensure supplier processes are ready before production approval.

Supplier Audits

Conduct supplier process and quality audits.

Identify process gaps and quality risks.

Prepare audit reports and follow up on corrective actions.

Verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.

Support audits based on ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, or customer-specific requirements.

Non-Conformance & Problem Solving

Identify and document supplier non-conformances.

Raise and follow up on NCR / SCAR / 8D activities.

Conduct root-cause analysis using:

5 Why

Fishbone Diagram

Pareto Analysis

8D

Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.

Monitor recurring defects and drive permanent solutions.

Supplier Development

Work with suppliers to improve process capability and reduce rejection.

Monitor supplier KPIs such as PPM, rejection rate, corrective-action closure, and quality performance.

Support supplier improvement projects using SPC, RCA, Lean, and Six Sigma tools.





Work with Procurement and Engineering teams during supplier selection and development.

NDT & Material Documentation

Review Material Test Certificates, Chemical Test Reports, Mechanical Test Reports, Heat Treatment Records, and NDT Reports.

Knowledge of NDT methods such as PT, MT, UT, and Radiography will be an advantage.

NDT Level II certification is preferred.

Required Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production / Metallurgical / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

5–10 years of relevant experience in Supplier Quality, Vendor Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Quality Engineering.

Strong experience in casting, forging, machining, or a combination of these processes.

Good knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T.;

Strong knowledge of measurement and inspection techniques.

Experience with supplier audits and supplier development.

Good understanding of PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, and 8D.

Experience in handling supplier rejections, NCRs, corrective actions, and customer complaints.

Good knowledge of MS Excel and quality documentation.

Preferred Skills

Experience in CMM inspection / CMM report review.

Knowledge of casting and forging defect analysis.

Knowledge of metallurgy and heat treatment.

Knowledge of NDT methods.

Experience with VDA 6.3 / IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 audits.

Experience in export-oriented manufacturing or supplying components to global customers.

Six Sigma / Quality certification will be an added advantage.
