Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 5 to 8+ years of hands-on experience, strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and SailPoint IdentityIQ to manage, optimize, secure, and support databases underlying enterprise Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platforms. The role will be responsible for database infrastructure, performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, security, capacity management, automation, and operational support for SailPoint environments.

The ideal candidate will work closely with SailPoint application, infrastructure, security, and development teams to ensure database reliability, scalability, performance, and compliance across on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. SailPoint Database Administration & Infrastructure

- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances supporting SailPoint IdentityIQ databases and related IGA workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Manage SailPoint database schemas, configuration, migrations, and database changes required for platform upgrades and releases.
- Ensure SQL Server and database configurations are optimized for SailPoint workloads and enterprise standards.
- Support database connectivity between SailPoint application servers and backend SQL Server environments.

2. SailPoint Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting

- Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance during high-volume SailPoint operations, including Identity Refresh, account/target aggregation, provisioning, certifications, entitlement processing, role processing, reporting, and workflow execution.
- Analyze and resolve blocking, deadlocks, lock contention, long-running transactions, connection-pool issues, CPU/IO bottlenecks, and transaction timeouts.
- Optimize complex T-SQL queries generated by SailPoint tasks, reporting processes, and custom integrations.
- Develop and maintain effective indexing and statistics strategies for high-volume SailPoint tables.
- Establish performance baselines for critical SailPoint tasks and identify performance degradation following application, configuration, or infrastructure changes.
- Perform root-cause analysis for SailPoint database-related failures, including transaction, session, locking, and timeout issues.
- Collaborate with SailPoint L3/application teams to determine whether performance issues originate from SQL Server, SailPoint configuration, application servers, custom code, or task concurrency.

3. High Availability & Disaster Recovery

- Configure and administer SQL Server high-availability solutions, including Always On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances (FCI), as required.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies, including full, differential, and transaction log backups.
- Develop, automate,



and test point-in-time recovery procedures.
- Conduct periodic database restore and disaster recovery exercises to validate recovery readiness and support compliance requirements.
- Maintain appropriate RPO/RTO objectives for business-critical SailPoint environments.

4. Database Security, Auditing & Compliance

- Implement least-privilege access controls for SailPoint service accounts, database administrators, application teams, and reporting tools.
- Secure sensitive identity and access-related data using appropriate SQL Server encryption technologies, including TDE and encryption in transit.
- Review database permissions, access patterns, and privilege escalation activities.
- Maintain database auditing and logging to support SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, and other applicable compliance requirements.
- Partner with security and compliance teams during database security assessments and audits.

5. SailPoint Connector & Integration Support

- Design, implement, and support SQL Server schemas, views, stored procedures, and database objects used by SailPoint JDBC/SQL connectors.
- Support database integrations used for identity aggregation, provisioning, and target-system connectivity.
- Assist SailPoint developers and application teams with query optimization, schema design, and database-related integration issues.
- Troubleshoot database connectivity, authentication, timeout, locking, and performance issues affecting SailPoint integrations.

6. Database Monitoring, Automation & Maintenance

- Implement and maintain proactive monitoring for SQL Server health, performance, availability, and capacity.
- Configure alerts for critical conditions such as CPU and memory pressure, deadlocks, failed jobs, connection issues, storage constraints, and transaction-log growth.
- Develop PowerShell and T-SQL automation for health checks, maintenance, integrity validation, alerting, and operational tasks.
- Perform routine database maintenance, including index maintenance, statistics updates, integrity checks, and job monitoring.
- Apply SQL Server cumulative updates, security patches, and other maintenance releases in accordance with enterprise change-management processes.
- Maintain dashboards and reporting for key database health and performance metrics.

7. Capacity, Growth & Data Retention Management

- Monitor growth of SailPoint tables containing audit events, workflow data, task results, identity information, provisioning transactions, account data, and other high-volume operational records.
- Identify abnormal database and table growth and recommend appropriate retention, archival, purge, and indexing strategies.




- Forecast requirements for database storage, transaction logs, TempDB, CPU, memory, and I/O based on identity population and SailPoint workload growth.
- Analyze database impact from operational backlogs, including workflow events and identity-processing activities.
- Conduct database capacity and performance impact assessments before major activities such as mass Identity Refreshes, full aggregations, bulk provisioning, migrations, and production cleanup.
- Proactively prevent performance degradation caused by excessive historical or audit data.

8. SailPoint Workload & Task Scheduling Coordination

- Partner with SailPoint application teams to optimize scheduling of database-intensive tasks and prevent excessive concurrent workloads.
- Analyze database utilization during Identity Refresh, aggregation, certification generation, reporting, maintenance, provisioning, and background workflow activities.
- Recommend scheduling, concurrency, partitioning, batch-size, and task-server distribution changes when SailPoint workloads create excessive database CPU, I/O, locking, or transaction-log utilization.
- Provide database performance and capacity guidance for large-scale SailPoint operations and application changes.

Required Qualifications

- Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise production environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting SailPoint IdentityIQ databases and SailPoint application workloads.
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL, SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, statistics, execution plans, locking, blocking, and deadlock analysis.
- Experience with SQL Server backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery technologies.
- Experience with SQL Server security, permissions, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls.
- Experience supporting database integrations using JDBC/SQL and stored procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills in complex application/database environments.
- Experience with PowerShell and T-SQL scripting for database automation and administration.
- Knowledge of database monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and performance management.
- Robust communication and collaboration skills with application, infrastructure, security, and development teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- SailPoint IdentityIQ administration or production support experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) environments.
- Experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and/or Failover Cluster Instances.
- Experience supporting SQL Server in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
- Familiarity with SailPoint task architecture, aggregation, Identity Refresh, provisioning, certification, workflow, and connector processing.
- Experience working in regulated environments with SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, or similar compliance requirements.
- Relevant Microsoft SQL Server and/or SailPoint certifications are a plus.
