Job Summary

The Legion application is a high-performance data-driven Java enterprise application that implements sophisticated scheduling and optimization algorithms. It also provides the necessary endpoints for our Web and mobile frontend applications. As a Software Engineer, you will be a member of the team responsible for the implementation and evolution of this application. You will need to be able to write secure, efficient, enterprise-quality Java code, and have a solid working understanding of the techniques and technologies that are necessary for scalability and performance. You will also need knowledge and experience with data modeling and relational databases. Our application runs on AWS, so experience with containerization and cloud deployments is desirable. Were using Springboot, Hibernate, MySQL, and JSON, so familiarity with these technologies will be helpful. Frontend experience in JavaScript and Angular and/or React is a big plus.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Develop features with high quality and on-time

- Thorough understanding of product area

- Contribute to feature design in collaboration with senior engineers and the Architect

- Develop features keeping in mind best coding practices including performance and user experience

- Own product quality

- Test features before asking QA engineers to test

- Write unit tests

- Work with QA engineers to test the product end-to-end

- Fix incoming bugs daily: Adhere to bug resolution goals and SLA

- Be able to demo the Legion product end-to-end

- Build robust solutions that help the product engineering team deliver features in a scalable and performant manner

- Design, build, and support applications from End to End.

- Make data-driven technical decisions





- Apply your technical knowledge to debug and solve challenging technical problems

- Identify and resolve ambiguities in requirements in consultation with the various stakeholders

- Contribute to sprint and quarterly planning

- Participate in design reviews and code reviews, providing constructive feedback and holding a high bar for code quality and standards

- Work with QA team to make the feature as Production ready.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline

- 3-4 years with backend technologies (Java, Spring Boot, MySQL)

- 3-4 years working on building multi-tenant SaaS applications

- 3-4 years experience with designing and building APIs

- 3+ years delivering software in a cloud-based environment (AWS, GCP, Azure)

- Skilled software development experience

- Proficiency in Java or C++, and object-oriented design skills

- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, with the judgment to review, test, and validate AI-generated code before it ships

- Working knowledge of application architecture and design patterns

- Experience contributing across the full software development lifecycle, from detailed design, scoping, and planning through implementation, testing, documentation, delivery, and maintenance





- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

- Exposure to the development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications

- Demonstrated ability to own features end to end, from design through production

- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear technical documents and participate in design discussions

- Strong personal work ethic focused on prioritization, being action-oriented, and being driven to achieve positive results
