Video Editor And Short-form Content Creator
- Location: Mumbai office (on-site, recording take place in the office)
- Job Type: Full time, Permanent
- Experience: 2-4 years in video editing for YouTube and Instagram
- Brands: The SmartMove2UK and Conroy Baker, with occasional projects for other group brands.
About the Role
We are launching interview-style video series for both brands, in the format of news-explainer and expert-conversation channels. Our founder answers the questions that clients mostly ask. You set up the camera, ask the questions, and turn each recording into a complete YouTube episode plus a set of Reels and Shorts, packaged to each brand’s guidelines. This is a behind-the-camera role. You own the full process: shoot, edit, cut down, package, and publish. Questions, talking points, and video content will be provided; you are responsible for execution – shoot, interview, deliver, edit, package, and publish.
Key Responsibilities
1. Shoot
- Set up and conduct batch recording sessions at our Mumbai office: two-camera setup (camera and/or smartphone), wireless lapel mics, lighting, and framing.
- Keep a consistent studio look for each brand so episodes are recognisable.
2. Interview
- Ask the questions and talking points provided by the marketing lead on or off camera and keep the conversation natural and on topic.
- Capture strong opening lines and pick-ups that can be used as hooks for Reels and Shorts.
3. Edit long-form YouTube episodes (8-15 minutes)
- Multi-camera editing with a hook-first structure and tight pacing for audience retention.
- Audio clean-up, leveling, and background music; colour correction using each brand’s colour preset.
- Captions, lower thirds, on-screen text, B-roll, and simple motion graphics using brand templates.
4. Create Reels and Shorts
- Cut 4-6 vertical (9:16) Reels and YouTube Shorts from each episode, with simple and catchy captions and a strong first 3 seconds.
- Adapt cut-downs for LinkedIn (1:1 or 16:9) where needed.
5. Package and publish
- Design thumbnails and draft titles, descriptions, chapters, and end screens.
- Upload and schedule on YouTube Studio; hand Reels to the social media specialist for the posting calendar.
6. Brand templates
- Build and maintain a separate template kit for each brand: intro, lower thirds, caption style, thumbnail layout, and colour preset.
7. Accuracy and approvals
- Follow our review process: every video is checked for accuracy before it is published.
- Use the approved brand names and terminology in captions, titles, and thumbnails, and spell visa route names correctly.
8. Files and performance
- Organise raw footage, project files, and exports on the shared drive with clear naming and backups.
- Review YouTube Studio and Instagram insights monthly (retention, click-through rate, views) and apply what you learn to the next edits.
Requirements
Must have
- 2-4 years editing YouTube long-form videos and Reels/Shorts (media house, agency, creator team, or in-house brand).
- A portfolio with at least one talking-head, interview, or podcast video of 8+ minutes and at least three Reels or Shorts.
- Strong skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, including multi-camera editing, audio clean-up, and colour correction.
- Working knowledge of After Effects to edit motion templates (titles, lower thirds).
- Photoshop or Canva for thumbnails.
- Hands-on shooting experience: DSLR/mirrorless or smartphone, lapel mics, and basic lighting.
- Understanding of what works on YouTube and Instagram: hooks, retention, thumbnails, aspect ratios, and caption protected zones.
- Confident spoken English and comfortable asking questions to senior leadership on camera.
- Strong written English and close attention to spelling and detail.
- Based in Mumbai and able to work from the office.
Good to have
- Experience creating content for UK or international audiences, including British English spelling (e.g. “licence”, “organise”).
- AI video tools (Descript, OpusClip, Adobe Podcast, HeyGen, or Runway).
- Experience with explainer, news, education, finance, or professional services content.
- Basic motion design: animated text, simple infographics, and step-by-step process visuals.
What We Offer
- Ownership of the video output for two established brands serving India, the UK and international markets.
- Direct collaboration with the founder and the digital marketing leadership team.
- Creative input into new formats, series, and channel growth.
- A clear path to Video Lead as the channels and team grow.
- Competitive salary based on experience and portfolio.
