Role & responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Design scalable Snowflake data warehouse architectures, including database, schema, and role hierarchy design.
- Define best practices for data modeling, clustering, partitioning, and query performance optimization.
- Establish security and governance standards including RBAC, data masking, row-access policies, and network policies.
- Architect data ingestion pipelines using Snowpipe, streams, tasks, and integration with ELT/ETL tools.
- Guide cost optimization strategies through warehouse sizing, auto-suspend/resume, and query optimization.
- Collaborate with data engineering and BI teams to enable self-service analytics on Snowflake.
- Define CI/CD practices for schema changes and Snowflake object management (e.g., using Terraform or schemachange).
- Provide architectural governance and mentor data engineers on Snowflake best practices.
- Partner with business stakeholders to align the data platform roadmap with analytics and reporting needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications 8+ years of overall data engineering/architecture experience.
- Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture: virtual warehouses, micro-partitions, clustering, and query optimization.
- Strong experience with Snowflake security features: RBAC, masking policies, and network policies.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one ETL/ELT tool (dbt, Fivetran, Matillion, ADF, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) hosting Snowflake.
- Experience designing data pipelines for both batch and near-real-time ingestion (Snowpipe, Kafka, streams/tasks).
- Solid understanding of data governance, cost management, and performance tuning in Snowflake.
- Robust stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills.
