We are looking for a Senior Terraform Architect / Lead with robust hands-on experience in Terraform, AWS infrastructure, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) migrations .

The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading CloudFormation-to-Terraform migrations , including Terraform architecture, state management, resource import and reconciliation, production readiness, and minimizing operational risk during production cutover.

This is a highly technical leadership role requiring someone who can independently handle complex Terraform migration challenges and guide the migration strategy from planning through production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the overall CloudFormation-to-Terraform migration strategy for existing AWS infrastructure.
- Define and enforce Terraform architecture, coding, and design standards .
- Establish robust Terraform state management strategies and best practices.
- Oversee the import, mapping, reconciliation, and validation of existing AWS resources into Terraform state.
- Analyze existing AWS infrastructure and ensure resources are accurately represented in Terraform without unintended changes.
- Identify and resolve complex issues during Terraform migration, deployment, and reconciliation activities .
- Perform Terraform plan reviews and validate infrastructure changes before production deployment.
- Develop strategies to minimize downtime, service disruption, and operational risk during production cutover.
- Ensure infrastructure is production-ready, scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Collaborate with cloud, DevOps, infrastructure, and application teams throughout the migration.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure drift, state inconsistencies, dependency issues, and unexpected Terraform changes.
- Establish processes for Terraform state integrity, resource lifecycle management, and ongoing infrastructure governance .




- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams throughout the migration.

Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of overall IT / infrastructure experience .
- Strong hands-on expertise with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Proven experience leading CloudFormation-to-Terraform migrations .
- Strong experience with AWS infrastructure and services .
- Deep understanding of Terraform state management , including remote state, state locking, imports, and state reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience with terraform import , resource mapping, state manipulation, and infrastructure reconciliation.
- Strong understanding of Terraform modules, providers, variables, workspaces, dependencies, and lifecycle management .
- Experience identifying and preventing unintended infrastructure changes and configuration drift .
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Terraform and AWS environments.
- Experience supporting production infrastructure migrations and cutovers .
- Ability to assess migration risks and develop strategies to minimize downtime and service disruption.
- Strong communication and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise AWS environments .
- Experience establishing Terraform standards and governance across engineering teams.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Terraform deployments .
- Knowledge of AWS security, networking, IAM, compute, storage, and other core AWS services.
- Experience with Terraform automation and DevOps practices.

Critical Requirement Candidates must have prior hands-on experience leading or significantly contributing to a CloudFormation-to-Terraform migration, particularly involving the import and reconciliation of existing AWS resources into Terraform state.

Experience only creating new Terraform infrastructure, without practical experience migrating existing CloudFormation-managed AWS resources into Terraform, will not be sufficient for this role.
