Software Developer

JES is an engineering and construction group that builds its own software in-house, with AI at the centre of how we develop it. We run an AI-assisted development process: a person defines what to build, our pipeline and AI do the heavy lifting of writing the code, and an operator runs the process and makes sure the result is correct. This is a new kind of role at the front edge of how software is actually built today, and we are growing the team. We have openings at two levels.

What a Software developer does

You run software builds through our AI-assisted pipeline from start to finish: turning a plan into shipped, tested software, running the testing loop, and driving fixes until the work passes acceptance. You operate the process and exercise judgment. You are not expected to hand-write the bulk of the code or design the architecture.

Day to day you will:

- Run a build end to end: set up the work, run it through the pipeline, and take it through testing to a clean pass.
- Read test results and evidence, send failures back through the fix loop, and re-run until everything passes.
- Do the hands-on tasks: run command-line tools, manage code with Git, check dashboards, capture evidence, verify screens.
- Keep work organised and legible, and know when to escalate rather than improvise.

Open roles Build Operator (mid-level)

Runs builds and testing for our web applications. A strong fit if you are meticulous, comfortable in a terminal, and keen to learn. A background in QA, software testing, or technical operations helps but is not required.

Tech you will work around: React, TypeScript, Vite, Node.js,



Supabase and PostgreSQL, Playwright, Git.

Senior Build Operator (3D and geometry)

A more technical role for someone with a background in 3D geometry, CAD, or BIM who can own our model-processing and 3D systems. You will run a detailed, evidence-based validation loop and reason about geometry and structured data.

Tech you will work around: Python, C# and .NET, 3D and CAD geometry, glTF and 3D viewers (Three.js), plus the web stack above. Revit or other BIM and CAD experience, and any mesh or computational-geometry exposure, are a robust plus.

What we look for (both roles)

- Careful, methodical, detail-oriented work.
- Comfort with a command line and with structured documents (JSON, markdown).
- Clear written communication.
- A fast learner who is genuinely interested in working with AI tools.
- For the senior role: demonstrable 3D, geometry, or CAD aptitude and Python (C# a plus).

How you will grow You earn responsibility on a ramp: start by running lower-risk work with support, then own testing loops, then own work that ships. Strong operators go on to train others, take on more of the planning, and grow into higher-judgment roles. This is a way into the future of software development, not a ceiling.

What this role is and is not

It is not a classic software-engineering job. We are not asking you to architect systems or write most of the code by hand. It is an operations-and-judgment role: running an AI-assisted development pipeline with care, and growing with it.
