We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our engineering team and take ownership of developing and enhancing the OWorkly platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL, with hands-on experience building secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise applications.

You will work across the entire technology stack, including frontend development, backend architecture, database engineering, authentication, business workflows, integrations, automated testing, and cloud deployment.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys end-to-end product ownership, translating product specifications and Figma designs into robust software, and improving an existing product without unnecessarily rewriting its foundation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Full-Stack Product Development

- Develop and enhance the OWorkly workforce competency, assessment, qualification, and certification platform.
- Build configurable multi-company functionality with tenant isolation and role-based access control.
- Develop administrative workflows for companies, organisational hierarchy, processes, levels, workers, assessments, question banks, approval policies, and skill matrices.
- Implement worker enrolment, eligibility, training, on-the-job training (OJT), assessments, practical evaluations, evidence capture, retesting, approvals, certification, renewal, and revocation workflows.
- Develop and enhance the worker self-service portal with secure worker-code/PIN access, self-assessment, supervisor verification, progress tracking, results, and retry/resume functionality.
- Convert existing product journeys into configurable workflows across companies, processes, levels, and role types.
- Build dashboards, worker management, assessments, qualifications, skill matrix, reports, administration, certification, and skill card features.

2. Backend Development and Database Engineering

- Develop and maintain modular Node.js, TypeScript, and Express backend services.
- Design clean service, repository, validation, authorisation, and API layers.
- Design, refine, and maintain PostgreSQL data models, migrations, constraints, indexes, and transactions.
- Build secure, scalable REST APIs with consistent error handling, validation, pagination, filtering, and sorting.
- Implement configurable business rules, eligibility criteria, approval policies, assessment gates, and workflow state transitions.
- Maintain trustworthy, immutable, and attributable audit records.
- Implement versioning and effective-date management for processes, levels, assessments, questions, packages, and policy configurations.
- Ensure safe data evolution without breaking existing functionality or data.

3. Authentication, Security and Access Control

- Implement production-grade authentication using OIDC, JWKS, OAuth2, or an equivalent identity-provider integration.
- Develop secure sessions or token-based authentication, including refresh-token rotation where applicable.
- Implement role-based access control, company membership, invitations, role assignment, account status, logout, and revocation.
- Enforce secure authorisation across all protected API routes and frontend screens.

- Prevent cross-tenant data access through both API and user interface controls.
- Implement rate limiting and abuse protection for login, worker PIN verification, public certificate verification, and sensitive endpoints.
- Ensure secure handling of personal information, evidence files, uploads, secrets, and audit data.

4. Integrations and Background Processing

- Develop an integration-ready connector layer for SAP, Oracle, Workday, vendor systems, or other HR systems as required.
- Implement field mappings, validation, conflict resolution, dry runs, sync history, retries, and reconciliation reporting.
- Build background processing using Redis, BullMQ, or an approved equivalent.
- Develop reliable jobs for certificate expiry, renewal reminders, retest due dates, notifications, synchronisation, and document processing.
- Ensure background workers are retry-safe, observable, and idempotent.
- Implement certificate PDF generation, QR codes, public verification pages, printable skill cards, and evidence metadata.

5. Frontend Engineering

- Develop and maintain the React and TypeScript frontend application.
- Build reusable components, accessible forms, typed API clients, and maintainable route-level architecture.
- Convert Figma designs and product specifications into responsive, functional user interfaces.
- Implement configuration pages with validation, save functionality, unsaved-change handling, audit visibility, and appropriate permission states.
- Develop responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile worker-portal use cases.
- Ensure the UI reflects real backend state, including notifications, status indicators, badges, print/download actions, and configuration controls.
- Maintain visual consistency with the approved Figma design language while improving usability where required.

6. Testing, DevOps and Production Readiness

- Develop and maintain unit, API, integration, workflow, security, tenant-isolation, and state-machine tests.
- Implement frontend component testing and browser-based end-to-end testing for critical user journeys.
- Use isolated test databases or reliable fixtures to prevent shared development data from being modified.
- Add concurrency and idempotency testing for approvals, certification, synchronisation, and queued jobs.
- Containerise applications using Docker and Docker Compose.
- Prepare applications for cloud deployment with health checks, database migrations, secrets management, backups, structured logging, metrics, tracing, and error reporting.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, production troubleshooting, deployment, rollback procedures, and operational documentation.
- Maintain clear architecture documentation, workplace configuration, setup instructions, and operational runbooks.
