Role Description The Senior Cost Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This position is responsible for leading cost planning, estimating, and cost control activities across the project lifecycle, including feasibility, design development, procurement, construction, and final account stages. The role involves preparing detailed cost plans and budgets, reviewing and validating estimates, managing cost risk, and providing clear, data-driven advice to clients and project teams.
The Senior Cost
Manager will oversee tender evaluations, contract administration from a cost perspective, and change/variation assessments, ensuring value for money and alignment with project objectives.
The role also includes mentoring junior team members, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to continuous improvement of cost management processes and tools.
Qualifications
- Strong cost management and quantity surveying skills, including cost planning, estimating, measurement, and cost reporting.
- Experience with commercial and contract management, including tender analysis, claims/variation evaluation, and final account preparation.
- Proficiency in project controls and financial analysis, such as budgeting, cash flow forecasting, cost risk analysis, and value engineering.
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications, and collaborate effectively with design, engineering, and construction teams.
- Advanced use of cost management, spreadsheet, and productivity software; familiarity with digital and data-driven cost tools is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present clear recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring cost management teams on property, construction, or infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline; professional membership (e.g., RICS or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Prior experience in an advisory or consulting setting and familiarity with Indian construction cost standards and practices.
