The Role

Our client is seeking a Research Engineer AI in the Information Technology division.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a global team, providing top-tier service to existing and prospective clients while expanding the business on a product and global level.

Main purpose of the role:

As a Research Engineer, you must own the technical roadmap for document digitisation across collateral, customs, exchange control and global trade, defining how heterogeneous paper and image-based documents are converted into structured, machine-readable and verifiable data. Build classification and extraction systems capable of operating reliably across a wide range of document types, formats, languages and jurisdictions,



including degraded scans, stamps, seals, endorsements and handwritten annotations.

Technical requirements:

- Strong understanding of core Machine Learning principles and algorithms.
- Experience evaluating, tuning, and improving ML models.
- Understanding of contemporary NLP techniques and Deep Learning approaches.
- Working knowledge of the mathematical foundations that support ML models, including Linear Algebra, matrices, and related concepts.
- Strong Python development, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Transformer-based document models such as LayoutLM, Donut or equivalent vision language models.

Preferred skills: Looking for a person who can develop and enhance the organization's Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) capabilities, including:

- OCR-driven document processing.
- Document classification.
- Document splitting and segmentation.
- Information extraction.
- Data normalization and mapping into canonical models.
- Integration of processed information into business applications.
