About the role and what you ll be doing:

- As a Release Manager, you ll work as part of a delivery project team supporting a major database modernisation programme. The project is focused on migrating production databases away from Oracle to cloud database equivalents such as PostgreSQL, with a solid emphasis on safe, controlled and well-governed cutovers.
- You ll be responsible for organising, managing and supporting production database cutovers, ensuring that each release is planned in detail, clearly communicated, fully rehearsed where appropriate, and executed in line with existing client s release process and agreed governance, risk and change controls. The technical execution of the cutover will be performed by the DBA and engineering teams, with the Release Manager coordinating activity, tracking progress, managing communications and supporting decision-making throughout the release window.
- The role will require close collaboration with Delivery Manager, Database Engineers, Network Engineers, application teams, Service Owners, business stakeholders and operations teams to coordinate dependencies, manage readiness, drive go/no-go decisions and support smooth transition into production.
- Production releases are expected to take place during weekend windows, typically on Sunday mornings in US Eastern Time. The working pattern for this role is therefore expected to be Thursday to Monday, allowing sufficient time for readiness activities, weekend execution, post-cutover validation and early-life support.

Relevant Experience Required

- 6 to 10 years experience in database engineering, database migration, platform consultancy, release management or a closely related technical delivery role.
- Experience supporting heterogeneous database migrations, ideally including Oracle to PostgreSQL or equivalent cloud database platforms.
- Experience delivering into a repeatable, high-volume migration programme rather than solely one-off projects.
- Experience owning a workstream end to end, including knowing when to delegate, when to escalate and how to maintain delivery momentum.
- Experience working on large programmes with multiple teams collaborating across organisational boundaries.
- Experience of production cutovers under formal change control, such as a Change Advisory Board or equivalent client governance process.
- A track record in consultancy,

managed services or nearshore delivery, working directly with client teams rather than at arm s length.
- Experience coaching or mentoring engineers or delivery team members.
- Demonstrable experience of planned out-of-hours and weekend release work.
- A degree in a computing discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Must be able to pass background screening before being granted client system access.

What you ll bring to Ensono Digital:

- We re looking for an experienced Release Manager with a strong track record of managing complex technical releases, ideally within database migration, cloud transformation or production change environments.

Release Planning & Cutover Management

- Planning, coordinating and supporting production database cutovers across multiple applications, environments and stakeholder groups, working closely with DBA and engineering teams who will perform the technical execution.
- Creating and maintaining detailed release plans, cutover runbooks, deployment checklists, rollback plans and communications schedules.
- Leading release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, implementation rehearsals and business go/no-go checkpoints.
- Including creating Change requests under client s exiting processes

Database Migration & Cloud Awareness

- Understanding of enterprise database migration programmes, particularly migrations from Oracle to cloud-based database platforms such as PostgreSQL or equivalent managed database services.
- Ability to coordinate technical activities across database, application, infrastructure, cloud, testing and operations teams.
- Experience managing data migration dependencies, environment readiness, validation activities, outage windows and post-migration verification.

Production Release Governance

- Managing release governance, change approvals, implementation controls and operational acceptance criteria for production deployments.
- Identifying release risks, issues and dependencies early,

ensuring mitigations, owners and escalation routes are clearly defined.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to lead cutover calls, facilitate decision-making and provide clear updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills, including producing release communications, stakeholder briefings, status updates and post-release summaries.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, coordinate multiple teams during critical production windows and escalate effectively when decisions are required.

Ways of Working & Delivery Discipline

- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring that release plans, timings, responsibilities, entry criteria, exit criteria and contingency steps are accurate and understood.
- Prior experience working in similar release, deployment, change or cutover management roles within complex technology programmes.
- Comfortable working outside standard business hours when required, including planned weekend production implementation windows.

Tools, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

- Experience using delivery and change management tooling such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, Confluence, SharePoint or equivalent platforms.
- Maintaining release dashboards, action logs, RAID items, decision logs and implementation trackers to provide clear visibility of release status and readiness.

Availability & Working Pattern

- Availability to support a Thursday to Monday working pattern, aligned to release preparation, weekend cutover execution and post-release support.
- Willingness to support Sunday morning production release windows in US Eastern time, including live coordination, stakeholder communications and post-cutover validation.
- Release windows typically open at 04:00 UK time on Sunday, which aligns to 23:00 Eastern Time on Saturday. Most releases complete within 24 hours; some may extend across a 48-hour period, with appropriate and agreed rest periods built into the working pattern.
