Oizom is an Ahmedabad-based environmental technology company delivering end-to-end IoT-based air quality, dust, odour, and weather monitoring solutions with a global footprint across industries and Smart City deployments. As we expand into the Gas & Safety domain, we are building a new product line focused on industrial gas detection and safety monitoring, extending our existing sensor and IoT platform expertise.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced R&D; Technical Manager to lead the design, development, and commercialization of a new Gas & Safety product line. This role will drive the technical roadmap from concept to certified, field-ready products — leveraging Oizom’s existing IoT hardware, sensor integration, and cloud analytics (Envizom) capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end R&D; for gas detection and safety monitoring products (fixed and portable), from concept through prototyping, validation, and production handoff.
- Define technical specifications and product architecture in line with market requirements and target certifications (ATEX, PESO, CE, IECEx, NEMA, etc.)
- Select and qualify gas sensor technologies (electrochemical, catalytic bead, infrared, PID, semiconductor) suited to target applications.
- Manage a cross-functional R&D; team spanning hardware, embedded firmware, and integration with Oizom’s IoT/cloud platform.
- Oversee compliance and safety certification processes for hazardous-area and industrial safety equipment.
- Collaborate with product management and sales to translate customer/industry requirements into product features.




- Build and manage relationships with sensor vendors, testing labs, and certification bodies Drive continuous improvement in product reliability, cost, and time-to-market Mentor and develop engineering talent within the R&D; team.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering,or related field 8+ years of experience in R&D;/product development within the gas detection, industrial safety, or process instrumentation industry.
- Proven experience taking gas/safety detection products from design through certification (ATEX/IECEx/PESO/CE) to market launch.
- Strong technical grounding in gas sensor technologies, signal conditioning, and embedded hardware design.
- Prior experience managing or leading a technical/engineering team Familiarity with relevant safety standards and hazardous-area classifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and software teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with connected/IoT-enabled safety products (wireless communication, cloud dashboards, remote monitoring).
- Prior experience at a recognized gas detection or industrial safety company.
- Exposure to portable and fixed gas detection product categories.
- Experience working with global certification bodies and international market entry.
