Role & responsibilities :
A Quality Engineer Solar is responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and Quality controlling solar power projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules
- Prepare baseline schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and project execution plans.
- Plan for Quality Control
- Site preparation and grading.
- Piling and MMS installation
- Module installation
- DC/AC cabling
- Inverter and transformer installation
- Substation and transmission works
- Testing and commissioning
- Track actual progress against the approved baseline and identify schedule delays and critical activities.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Monitor manpower, equipment, materials, and productivity against project requirements.
- Prepare look-ahead schedules (2-week, 3-week, or 4-week).
- Perform critical path analysis and recommend recovery plans for delayed activities.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, subcontractors, and project management teams.
- Review contractor/subcontractor schedules and monitor their performance.
- Support preparation of EOT (Extension of Time),
delay analysis, and recovery schedules.
- Monitor procurement and material delivery schedules to ensure construction activities are not affected.
- Conduct regular progress meetings and update action trackers.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure schedule updates are accurate and timely.
- Assist the Project Manager in forecasting project completion dates, resource requirements, and potential risks.
Preferred candidate profile
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of solar PV project construction and execution.
- Valuable understanding of project planning and scheduling techniques.
- Good knowledge of Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and progress tracking.
- Ability to analyze delays and develop recovery plans.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, BOQs, method statements, and project schedules.
Typical Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Civil, Electrical.
- Typically, 3 years of experience in project planning, preferably in solar PV/EPC/construction projects.
