The Purchase Manager will lead end-to-end procurement operations for raw materials, core metallic inputs, chemicals, packaging, and plant machinery required for wire and cable manufacturing. This role requires robust technical-commercial acumen to manage volatile metal markets (like Copper and Aluminium LME movements), drive aggressive cost-optimization, and maintain an uninterrupted, high-quality supply chain.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Operations - Manage end-to-end procurement of primary raw materials including Copper rods/wires, Aluminium rods, PVC compound, XLPE, GI wire/strip (for armouring), masterbatches, and packaging materials.Monitor global/domestic commodity trends and London Metal Exchange (LME) benchmarks to time raw material purchases efficiently.Develop and execute strategic sourcing policies to optimize material costs without compromising quality standards.
2. Vendor Management & NegotiationSource, evaluate, and onboard reliable domestic and international vendors for raw materials and factory consumables.Negotiate competitive pricing, credit terms, volume discounts, and service level agreements (SLAs) with suppliers.Conduct periodic vendor audits and performance evaluations based on delivery timelines, quality compliance, and pricing competitiveness.
3. Inventory & Demand-Supply PlanningCollaborate with the production and planning teams to align material procurement with manufacturing schedules, ensuring On-Time In-Full (OTIF)



delivery.Implement inventory optimization techniques to maintain optimal stock levels, prevent production line stoppages, and minimize holding costs.Manage store operations, inward/outward reconciliation, and scrap/surplus material disposal.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination & ComplianceCoordinate closely with Quality Control to ensure incoming raw materials comply with IS/IEC standards and technical specifications.Work with the R&D; and Engineering teams to source alternative materials or approved substitute vendors for cost-saving.Ensure strict adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), statutory compliances, GST documentation, and import-export regulations (High Sea Sales, customs clearance, etc.).

Desired Candidate Profile

- Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical) or a Graduate with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain Management / Materials Management (PGDM/MBA).
- Experience: 6 to 12 years of hands-on experience in strategic sourcing and procurement within the Wire & Cable, Wire Harness, Electrical, or heavy manufacturing sector.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep product knowledge of conductor grades (EC grade copper/aluminium), insulation polymers (PVC/XLPE), and shop-floor consumables.
- Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, analytical, and cross-functional leadership skills.Software Proficiency: Well-versed with ERP environments (SAP, Tally, Busy, or Oracle) and advanced MS Excel
